I've gone off the idea, I read a review by a mum who had given one to her 5 yr old daughter. She lost interest in it hatching, as this took about 30 mins, then 3 week later, despite trying to train it, all it could do was record her voice and dance. Sticking with a Furby.

Yep they look like absolute junk and a waste of money, the same as most overpriced plastic kids toys! I buy Lego every year which takes ages to build is in pieces within hours and spend months finding missing pieces - yet everybody still loves it! It makes the kids happy.
I got it for a very good friend who is desperate for one :)

Yes, it's probably junk & no, it's probably not worth the money but I just bagged one from Argos and my girl will be thrilled! She's animal crazy and will adore it & it's the only thing she's asked for so it's all about the magic

Suppose it can be returned if it does develop a fault or if the child changes their mind. Hate it when there is a crazy for the must have item every year before Christmas and then they are everywhere afterwards.

Any tips on getting one. Does argos just randomly upload stock?

Definitely! think last year it was those Frozen Snow Globe Wands, now shops can't get rid of them!
I don't think the company realised how popular they were going to be, they just can't keep up with demand but there will be new ones released in January, so maybe an IOU might keep kids happy until then!

Honestly it's just pure luck at the moment. With Argos, download the app if you can add all 4 hatchimals to your basket and just keep checking it to see if they are available to collect or order for home delivery.
I have heard Smyth's are getting more in soon, but they sell out in minutes. Good Luck. x x x

Once the packaging is opened if change of mind there is no return unless ordered online, the store policy is quite strict

Create some hype, cut supply and you got yourself a Christmas must have.
Lots of people will discover that these are rubbish shortly after Christmas.

But in a few years when the phase has past they can release hatchimal connect. Same old rubbish but with moving eyes and wifi.

The furby isn't much better, all over priced with 5 mins play value!
