All inputs are hardware mpeg encoded unlike cheaper tv cards.

I was about to say this wasnt a good deal as u can get dual hybrid dvb-t analogue tuners from ebuyer for less: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/143322 (about the same with delivery)

But the mpeg2 encoder built into this is unusual... So it would be good for encoding video from analogue cameras, consoles etc i guess?

If you needed to record from old vhs yes etc

Remember with hrybrid devices you can't watch one channel and record another.

Not sure about the previous post - can't you waych one tuner while recording the other? Also I think this has been available cheaper in the past - keep an eye out on Scan today only if you are after one.
