hi there - do you know how much better (if at all) image quality would be compared to tvcatchup.com, although you can't record (simply) with this site.

Just curious

Thanks

These things can be a right pain to retune every day, if your signal is not 100% expect lag. Good price but can be time consuming

I haven't used tvcatchup so can't really comment but here's a fairly decent review of the card. :)

Anything must be better than catch tv :) which is basically just advertising with no end.

You get freeview and analog with this tv tuner. IMO, this is a hot price. Will only work on desktop tho. But you get timeshift, rewind and record, everything you would get from a standalone PVR.

Correction: didn't read it properly. This one will work on a laptop. (Mine is the desktop version)

is the express card slot on a laptop the same as the old pcmcia slot?

I have never had to do that. Mine is just switch on and watch or record. Perhaps there was something wrong with yours, mainds.

Correction: Mine is a desktop PCI card, so can't really comment on this express card. Just read the review on this card and it's not very good imo. I never had such problems with my desktop card.

What I have now on my laptop is a Easycap USB Video Capture Adapter and this works pretty well for tv recording. You need a tv with video/audio out (most lcd tv will have that). Quality is reasonable.

No it's a different size / shape.
If you look at the large picture posted above you can see the shape of the card, a bit of a l shape if you like.
PCMCIA cards don't have the cut out piece you see, they have connections the whole length of the bus.
You can buy adapters to convert this to PCMCIA on Eb*y

Great price though, especially taking into consideration that review posted above. Hot!

More stuff to buy.
GREAT post, just gotten a e6400 (have to check if has this slot)
All the light on it are blue so this card would match.
Also Analog and Digital, sweet.
Trying hard no to buy it, but so tempted

Just in case people don't know, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to receive all (any ?) of the Freeview channels with an portable aerial unless you live right underneath the broadcast tower.

Has anyone bought & received this yet?

Hi Veedubja, I ordered as soon deal was put up.
BUT my notebook doesn't have express card (Dell mess up)
I going to be returning it as soon as get it or might sell on here. DAM was what looking for too.

I was hoping to see if a Expresscard type has a better advantage than most USB models as not many are made in Expresscard. Plus it is limited to most laptops even if you can buy adaptors to fit them on desktop PC's.
