Though put into the shade by newer devices such as PopCorn Hour, the MediaMVP can still be handy for SDTV along with music and pictures and this price is exceptionally low for the wireless version.

Along with a PCH, I run a couple of MVPs using GB-PVR on the main PC with <£25 Videomate S350 to record from satellite. If I could get a wireless connection in my house and wasn't already using HomePlugs for the MVPs I'd be tempted by these.

They might seem "yesterday's technology" but they've stood the test of time and simply do well what they're supposed to do. One doesn't need to stick with the Hauppauge software - there's also mvpmc, for example, and that's also supported by GB-PVR.

I take it this sends a wireless stream via your modem/router from your wireless pc/lappy to tv?
Does it do the same as this Q-Waves Wireless USB to HDMI Extender - Stream Wirelessly From Laptop to TV or Projector, which i tried last year and sent back as it never worked even after spending over an hour on the phone to tech support talking me through step by step!

No and No (in that order).

It's a receiver - not a sender. It connects to your TV using SCART (by default) and, optionally, to sound system by phono plugs but it also has SPDIF and composite outputs, etc.. It streams media files in supported formats from your network via your wireless router wirelessly (or by cable if you wish):

Personally, I'd rather spend the extra and buy something that can actually play things locally rather than needing another machine being turned on (and suffering the vagaries of wireless connections).
PCH (mentioned above), WD Live and AC Ryan Play On are all better machines, if more expensive, that allow much more flexibility in how you can view your information.
