Just been rung up by SKY offering HD+ box, standard installation both for free, and £10/month for the HD pack.

This is instead of the previous £60 install deal for existing customers. Other than ESPN half price deals through the post this is the first proper deal I've been offered, don't even have SKY+!

I accepted, of course! Details on my account accessed through the SKY box show all charges and credit charges as existing customer deal.

I am hopeful others may be able to benefit hence I am posting.

SKY customer services is 08442 414141, always worth asking.

this offer came with a flyer with sky mag & email i got with them the other day, not interested in hd to tell the truth (waste of money imo) but a least they phoned you and not the other way round. you will also have to tie in another 12 month contract.

are you sure it doesn't say anything about multi room?

I had an argument on the phone with them re the £120 a year privelage for the HD and said will they ever scrap it like they did the £10 pm they used to charge for the sky plus!!

I said BT vision don't charge a monthly fee, skys answer to that is they will never drop the charge as they are the leaders in the maret for non cable areas aaaaaaaaargh!!

We pay for the box, we pay for the HD tv why the hell should we pay £120 a year on top??!!

Ps and yip i do pay for the pivelage haha!! Still ****** me of tho!:whistling:

I phoned sky the other day and was told I would have to pay an extra £20 a month to get this offer.(sky HD and multiroom). I declined and then he told me I could have the box for free and install it myself for £30 postage and just pay the £10 HD charge. I`m still thinking about it:thinking:

Yah finally decided to go for it.
Bit of haggle helpful.
Normally they would say £60 for installation, but say that u have had friends who have got free installation under a current promotion so you should get it free.
Also ask the sky spokesperson to check if you are under the digital switchover area, if thats the case you should be able to get HD fee down from £10 a month to £5 a month. Unfortunately it wasnt for me but its worth a check.
Also bear in mind that if in the recent snow/ rain season you noticed a drop in your signal and wondered if your satellite disc position could be better you can get it repositioned when the engineer comes.
Hope that helps.
Thanks

are you sure it doesn't say anything about multi room?

no metion of it plus i already have multiroom as it is, below part of the email they sent, as i said above not interested in hd as i think it is a waste of money, and from what i have read on other posts about sky hd, the picture is worse for sd channels on the hd box.

Right now you can enjoy Sky TV in stunning high definition with a free Sky+HD box and free standard set-up (normally £60) when you upgrade to the HD Pack for just £10 extra per month.

Call today on 08442 411 439

A Sky+HD box has all the flexibility of Sky+, even more storage and the latest Sky Guide – making it easier to find the TV you love.

got the email quoting the offer few days ago but when i phoned they said the offer wasnt coming up on their system and asked how many tv's we had. I said we only had one and the woman actually tried to sell me the offer with multiroom subscription "for only £20 extra a month with the hd pack". I obviously refused and said I would ring back in another week when their systems have had chance to be updated! Email states offer is on till 31st March.

We've just also been phoned and offered the £10 per month with free HD box and free installation. Nothing else extra required (i.e. no multi room) so hubbie well pleased - and will be installed on a weekend morning! Now to just watch all ths stuff stored up before the new box arrives!

to all the people that are getting the free boxes, you do realise yo will be paying an extra £120 per year with a new 12 month contract for exactly the same subscription that you pay for just now, hd will not improve the film/program/football that you are watching. a crap film will still be a crap film whether its in hd or not.

Thanks for the objective comment?
From my standard sky box I will be getting an HD+ box, for my £10 extra a month, along with the HD channels.
Having seen Sky HD on two different sets and compared them to SD on the same sets I was quite happy to accept the offer, and a quick install on exactly the day I wanted.

I can see you don't want this deal but I understood the idea is you post on the deal, not what you think of Sky. This is a £60 reduction on the price. Whether people want Sky HD or not is an individual choice. You do not have to have it.

nothing against sky as such, been a subscriber for almost 20 years and have tv, phone & bb with them, just think hd is a waste of money, when it was announced at launch "it is like going from black & white to colour", it is not the next giant leap in technology, more of a baby step. the free box really does cost you an extra £120 per year, not including any other non sky hd channels.

And where are they posting it from to cost £30 and then another £120 a year ?

Are they shipping from outer space ?

Got this offer email through myself but i'm not needing it as we already have a sky+ box i cant warrant paying the extra £10 a month....

When you compare it to this deal which was voted up to 900+ heat:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/599447/new-sky-hd-prices-and-options

was £0 for box but £60 instalation and now £0 + £0 with this curent deal so has got to be hot!

Parents still have a standard sky box so definitely reccomending this one to them! £120 for an upgrade to SKy+HD is a bargain IMO.

but if you had read most of the comments they were getting it for either £15/£30 pounds installed or delivered without taking out the hd pack.

Well, after phoning twice last week about this offer and being told I had to take multiroom or pay £30 postage I am now pleased to say they have now offered me the deal without the multiroom:-D. Free installation and no postage. The engineer is coming on thursday morning.:-D
