Voted hot - my son wanted an easy to buy a cheapish camcorder for Youtube and looking around this seemed to fit the bill. Saw various other ones with VGA video at Currys for £50 butthey felt really cheap.
Decided to go for this one at £8 more as it has higher video quality and a 3 year warranty (albeit requiring post after 90 days) - and the feel is infinitely superior. Doesn't have that cheap feel, it actually feels rugged.

I am very impressed with it - the photos and videos are very good (it's not in the same class as an £800 high-def camcorder which I also own; so don't expect it to be).

Having seen my son's one, I would happily buy another for myself if they were still in stock at my local Aldi.
It has several different record mode for video - allowing you to have between 30mins for high quality video all the way up to 4hours (ideal for Youtube) on a supplied 1gb SD card.

Can also take photos, voice recorder - also pleasantly surprised to see it has an HDMI connection (with HDMI lead supplied), and also that it has a small LED flash.

Great bargain at £58 - saw one very similar in looks made by Vivitar in my local Asda for £129.

looks good just impossible to find out whether stores have any stock. Tempted but not sure if i want to drive 25 miles to find out if they have any :-( Anyone have a list of Aldi store numbers? Specifically Camberely or Reading?

Good deal, i just went down to my local Aldi to get one, asked about it and was told these in fact went out onto shop floors 2 weeks ago and sold out straight away, he said they have sold out across our region (i live in ipswich) and he said they usually get the in every 3 or 4 months.

can always use the video function on a camera like the fujis5800...

is that timelapse something the camera can do on it's own, or did he do it 'post-production'?

This seems like a good example of the quality -

Seems so as it takes an SD Card (1GB one supplied)

Why is it that bigger companies never supply the good stuff like HDMI cable, and the smaller companies go all out. The quality of the cables maybe questionable, but regardless...
#13
its rubbish...
cold, no doubt

my friend has a similar one...
#16
So you voted cold and stated it was rubbish when you haven't got one, never tried it and state it's rubbish because a friend has a camcorder which isn't this one but is rubbish:?

Thats like me saying not to buy a Ford Mondeo because it's rubbish, due to a friend of mine who owns a Vauxhall Vectra which is kind of similar to it as it's the same size and has the same sized engine, says it's not very good!:whistling:

Whereas Ra2000 has one, and likes it and gave an informative opinion:thumbsup:

Similar, not same. It's ridiculous to say this is rubbish when you've never even used it. After viewing the example video's it looks fantastic for the price and the online reviews confirm so.

Please do not comment on things you haven't even used. We dont like trolls.

looking at the videos great if your using a tripod or have extra steady hands. reckon it doesn't have any image stabilization as the hand held video is very jerky. hot at the price if that's all your willing to spend on one (especially in these credit crunch days) but if you can afford better (ie on stabilization) maybe not so good a deal..

I got one when they first came out a few weeks back, I cannot wait til crimbo, if I can get that quality for £58 ill be well happy.. Tevion/Medion stuff really is superb value for money.

I've had a Panny SD camcorder in mini DV format for around 8 years and it's on the verge of packing in. This looks a nice cheap replacement as I can't warrant paying out 100's of £'s to buy a HD replacement at the moment as I know I won't get the use out of it. Some of the video's posted look quite impressive. Has anyone managed to find one in the last couple of days anywhere?
#21
Seems it's sold out everywhere:x
#22
Image stabilisation isn't a necessity! Photography has been around 100plus years without it! For 58 quid it looks really good although I'm happy with the video on my Canon compact camera (950 IS). I thought these would be rubbish but the video and the opinion of someone in the thread with a 'proper' video camera has made me think they are good at the price. Anyway, with Aldi you can always take it back.

On there Official website www.jazzcameras.com it says the camera is 11 megapixel?

Probably Hardware Interpolation
#26
On the pan shot, it looks quite jerky - looks as though it's a restricted framerate (15fps?) anyone got the specs to confirm/deny this?

could just be the conversion to get it on the website of course.
#27
I got mine from Preston, just asked the till girl and she got one from under the counter, dont know how many they had though?

It does have Image Stablisation, although that disables the Zoom Function.

Having done a bit of research, it would seem that although it says the maximum card is 4gb, in reality it can take bigger, also the battery is NP-60 which can be had for £3/4 off ebay.

The manual states 30fps for all video settings

Correct this is a 5 megapixel still camera

Does it have optical zoom at all? If it does it's ok.If not,then..very good for kid's present for Xmas!!

Ooops missed that,

Really should have gone to bed earlier last night
#32
In the words of Paris Hilton, that's hot.

Anyone know of any ALDI stores near the SW2 region?
#33
anyone know what card it takes

It takes a straightforward SD/MMC card card up to 8gb

It does have motion stabilisation which disables the digital zoom and just found the LED can be used for flash or video light (OK not going to light up a room, but it's there and probably great for capturing when Johnny blows out his birthday candles)

To the person who thinks it's rubbish as his friend has a similar sort of camera - perhaps you didn't read that I went to Currys and similar places and saw a similar camera to this one and rejected it because it was only VGA and had a cheap feel. To look at - yes it was similar in appearance; but as pointed out you can't base your opinion on something that is ... DIFFERENT ... can you ? Maybe your friend has the one from Currys.... in which case I agree. This one is different .... and I think it's great.

One possible thing to try : when we got our from Aldi they had sold out. I asked if we could buy the one in the display cabinet, but the staff were fairly sure it was a dummy box. Turned out, it wasn't - that's how we got ours .... so could ask for the displayed one? Worth a shot if you're near an Aldi ? Good luck!

I see some stupid comments on here but that's one of the worst - can you at least provide some reasoning or are you like many on here that are just out to troll?
#37
is there actually stock anywhere ?

whats the point of voting hot for something that is to all intents and purposes expired ?

can someone confirm they have bought one in the last few days, otherwise this thread should be expired
#38
I can confirm I bought this on Friday, in Preston, HTH
