But what is the quality like on either, does anyone know?

No point in having extra pixels if they are extra pixels of 'fuzz'.

Anyone got suggestions for an outdoor wifi camera with decent night time quality? (It'll be attached to a street-light, so some illumination.)

Just got one of these and it's going back.

Picture quality is "OK", but doesn't look like 720p.
In fact, this amazon page for this model of camera : https://www.amazon.de/Smartwares-App-Kamera-SD-Kartenslot-Aufnahmefunktion-C935IP/dp/B00LL1TSZA has a spec table and shows this model does HD 1280x720 only to the internal SD card!

The app to control and view this is very poor. It works, but barely.

On the positive side, the auto-switching to night vision mode and the infrared LED lighting is pretty good, so the 8m night-vision distance is probably about right.

But anyway, as the camera has no way of getting anything from it apart from the terrible app, it's going back. It bothers to do wired ethernet and wifi, and talks to an Amazon EC2-hosted website, presumably to allow you remote access to it, but doesn't let you get decent access to it on your local network, say by having a web-server running on the camera itself.

Cold!

Btw, it's IP66 waterproof so should be fine outside.

From the service address on the manual, this is a Byron product. I find they're a bit hit and miss with their products, like Swann. I have a door bell that works, tried a video intercom that didn't.
And there is a windows phone version of the app if anyone's interested:

It's rubbish, you can't view the camera from your browser only with the crappy app

i think it is great camera easy use of app from my phone ... anyone know where I can buy another one to add to the existing one?

Do you need a box with this camera?
