looks like a good idea. Cheap

Got one for the caravan. Have some heat :)
#3
Thats what Im getting one for, where do you mount the dish?
#4
One thing to bear in mind, as it looks like this is a FTA receiver rather than a FreeSat one and from what I've read, it is unlikely that you will get a 7 day programme guide. You may get Now and Next. That means that recording will probably have to be done via the old style VCR method where you enter the date, time, duration and channel manually.

Good price for what you get mind.

Yes, this isnt a freesat one.
Will be good for watching F1 via RTL that BBC dont cover.
quick and easy to set up

On a pole mounted on the "A" frame

Picked one up yesterday, well impressed. It is a Ross kit,but HD, B&Q are selling the SD version for £89.98!
#8
Also picked one up yesterday, didn't test the actual dish etc but plugged the box into my Sky dish and it worked very well for such a cheap box. If you really want the proper Freesat experience, the portable dish should play fine with any satellite receiver.
#10
The Aldi one is even better, comes with a sat finder. HD box is different to the Amazon one too
#11
Dish is way too small.
#12
too small for what? Ive used a dish this size in france no problem, so it will work fine in the uk

Can you tell me what " NEEDS EXTERNAL USB DEVICE MEANS"
#14
Can these be used to hijack satellites like in Goldeneye?

If so, then hot ;)

Can you tell me what " NEEDS EXTERNAL USB DEVICE MEANS"

You can record and play back via a usb stick or 2.5" hard disk. Only one channel mind.

apparently some stores have dropped this to £19.99!!!!
#17
Hi, which stores are selling at £19.99 ? Ramsbottom, Lancs are at £39.99

I purchased the Aldi one at £59.99 and a stand at £21 off E bay. the satellite kit is fantastic, tried it on my holiday last week, a doddle to set up, you just need common sense and a bit of patience. got a picture from first setting, I would highly recommend this system for the price and you get a good warrenteeeeeeee. forget any negative remarks you read and judge for yourself.
However I saw on ebay a Free Sat System for £61 including the tripod stand. now that's what I call good value.
Happy viewing.

Looked at the aldi kit, seems like a good deal,
Can anybody tell me if I would be able to find Russian or Ukrainian programs with it.... Hope it is possible for the wife to watch her fave programs from home ;)

I am still satisfied with my original Aldi sat system purchase. I had fantastic reception in the centre of Wales last week. I dont know about the Russian connection it would depend where the satellite station is,there are two located "SSE" on the compass, see if Aldi will let you have a peek at the instruction book before you buy. happy viewing, by the way the latest one from Aldi has free sat included

Just bought the dvbs2trv1 from aldi it won't align the dish keeps saying no signal ... Help
#22
Hi Chez.. I had the same problem of "no signal" so I phoned the technical dept (my son)and this is how we solved the problem. 1st connect the signal finder and set the dial about halfway then point the dish to SSE until you get at least 4 red led's lit.then tweak it sideways until you have at least 8 led's lit you may need to turn the dial a bit. then you need to do the azimuth (upwards angle) set this at approx 30 degrees ( your dish should be pointing slightly downwards.) when you are showing 8-10 leds you should then get a good signal, make sure you have no trees or buildings blocking your dish, make all the connections to your tele before switching on the power.check that your tele is set to HDMI-1 throu the menu button' when you have done it and it all klicks into place you wonder why it seemed complicated. I now do mine just by line of site.and not always needing to use the sat finder unit. persevere because it is a very good system and once mastered it is much better than the Status ariel on your van. .my system is not the Free Sat one.but basically the rules apply. good luck.
