Makro are currently stocking an hd satellite kit for just £99.99 + vat including dish and lnb,

The receiver is a comag sl100hd which is not one im familiar with - i believe its a new one but most comags are 'patchable'

It has a USB socket which you can insert an external hard drive for recording onto

although i cant find info about this one - it may be one to buy for the future!

Note the link is to the makro mail PDF file which may take a while to open

unfortunately the cheaper one isnt HD but its ideal if your out camping / for the caravan etc.

Comag are a reputable company they do a lot of rebadges for lidl & aldi - usually called silvercrest or tevion

do a bit of searching about comag sl65 regarding patching in google and you will see what i mean ;-)

i think it means you can unscramble channels on other sattelites (not sky) illegally.
#9
That's precisely what they mean. This thread should be deleted since what's being discussed is illegal.

Maplin have the same receiver for £109.99 although it looks like their version is a receiver only so the Makro one is still a better deal.

However, Maplin have a link to download the receivers manual for folk after the full spec.

Not knowing much about satellite receivers - how does this work with an option to record onto to a USB HDD?
- Can you schedule a recording by timer?
- Will it record a program in HD for HD playback? (I would have thought USB 2.0 was too slow for this)

Because it's a new model there isn't much out there about setting this up and how well it picks up UK HD channels.
#16
I'd still avoid this & put your money towards a more patchable box (like a TM) - you will open & recieve a hell of a lot more channels........

Since Premiere recently changed to Nagra 3 there is not as much open with pathced receivers anymore. TPS went a while back, Polsat is going to change encryption soon and (I forgot the name of the package) on Thor will be going next year when they change encryption.

As ChrisUK says a Technomate box is better with lots of support but even better is a dreambox as cardsharing becomes reality.

its got a common interface socket - could you not use a dragon cam etc in one of these or am i being dumb?

Sorry new to the scene

this is actually a CHD1000 HD receiver and is still available as I got one tday and have intsalled it andx works ok for me. Is on makro mail at £99.00 plus vat and you can record to HDD or memory stick if you like., not bad for a first setup, and HD on bbc as to be seen to be believed.

You could also add quad lnb and have it coupled to your other pvr's just a thought.

and at present most freesat pvr's only record now and next due to epg problems...

checkt out....
