Sounds to me like this is used to hack subscription channels? In which case the set up is illegal.

Well I would hope that any sat receiver can receive more than just a few ITV HD channels! It works with a moveable dish.

It's got a card reader! Not much use without a card, which you will have to pay a subscription for.

I live in Ilford, and have been to their shop. Seems legit to me.

If there's anything else you need to know, ask away, but do so in a more constructive way than you have to date.

Hey dude, I did ask a question. Note the use of the "question mark" which looks like ? :whistling: How about you answer questions constructively!

Cams never used to have anything to do with USB unless hacking was mentioned, added to the hint of lots more than freeview.... :whistling:

... (I agree they should get someone to proof read and amend - but most people aren't too fussed about buying from a "foreigner".)

Well I am, when their website is so attrociously presented to the public :x
#10
Can it receive "freesat" with their EPG? or just the channels without?
#11
Their website shows the freesat logo which I'd assume meant yes, although I know freesat were controlling who was authorised to have the badge and I hadn't heard the name.

Contact details are in Essex because their shop is in Ilford Essex!

Yes, their speeling is poor, but there is a reason - their first language isn't English. (I agree they should get someone to proof read and amend - but most people aren't too fussed about buying from a "foreigner".)

Don't worry that's normal spelling for Essex :)

Ok, blonde moment here. Can you use this instead of a sky dish? or with one? Basically, I have sky, but want to get freeview instead but with the equivalent of sky+ as I really couldn't live without it now, lol. Any ideas? thanks

This doesn't have sky+ like functions.

What exactly is your beef with this posting? A lot of satellite receivers can be firmware hacked with a softcam to hack subscription channels, however regardless what the end user decides to do with it, the advertising of it here or on the website has nothing at all to do with that.

This is an excellent price for a HD Receiver full stop....voted hot, whatever the end user wishes to do with it.

According to your logic most satellite receiver setups then are illegal, as are Xbox 360s, CD Burners, DVD Burners etc etc etc.

Can you watch football games that are not normally on? Is it foreign satelite? I really want that!

Precisely. (Not that it's illegal anway in what it can receive in this country) - thats just a big bonus.

Anyone know of a HD receiver for less you can watch BBC HD etc with?

I bought a fortec star passion HD Freesat for about £140 after a deal on here.Only got it on my sky dish but I think I could pick up loads of satellites if I had a motorised dish. How do I go about unlocking the foreign channels to watch the football.Where can I read up on it,I dont understand all this firmware flashing/cams etc.Acouple of you on here seem to know what your talking about can anyone give a straight forward plain english answer when they get time please.

What do you mean? The payment is via PayPal so it's not a concern that the site doesn't use HTTPS.

I've just plumped for one of these as I'm moving into a new house and am unsure of the condition of the aerial. I know the sellers have Sky at the moment, so this should make a nice cheap Freesat box. The HD capability is a bonus.

H&R added, thanks OP - the only thing I'd suggest is adding the postage charge to the the title. I went for Royal Mail at £7.24 - the delivery options were a bit unclear though and I wasn't sure whether I should have chosen the £11 "Receivers (UK only)" option instead.

Wasn't sure on this receiver, but just had a quick look on the alsat forum.

It looks like this receiver cant be patched (from what I read). This basically means you wont be able to use it in its raw state to decode channels without spending. However, the good news is because it has CAM slots on it, you could buy a CAM (which is basically a PCMCIA card like you used to get ports for on older laptops), which would give it the same stuff that a firmware upgrade would give you.

Dont know much about CAMs these days.... but the Diablo seems to be the better one to go for. Another member (Dogcop) has one. Drop him a PM and I'm sure he'll be happy to answer any question on what you can get with it.

And yes, of course you would need to use a motorised dish for these extra satellites, but your receiver supports this.

Anything else, ask away.

Cheers guv,I will have a read up on diablo CAM tomorrow, and may get back to you with some more questions. At first glance and broadly speaking my first impression is it might be an idea to buy this with the dish for £135 and sell one of the receivers,as I cant imagine a 90cm motorized dish is much cheaper on its own.Anyway thanks for the reply, much appreciated
#27
Ok guv, cheers again, will have a read up tomorrow and will pm him about the cam.

This is the specs for the one I got.

Hope it makes more sense to you than it does to me.Off to bed now so will reply to any answers tomorrow.

Thanks again

Forgive my ignorance,I have the technical knowledge of a wellyboot.

I bought the grundig freesat receiver posted on here a few months ago for £49 and although I`m delighted with it for it`s HD content,i was a little disappointed that you can`t use a motorised dish with it.

Can any of you boffins confirm that is the case and if so I`m gonna go for this.

I dont think you can use motorised with it - but will look up and try to find out. Not tonight though...... im off to bed.

Hi

I have a normal Sky Digital box (not Sky & Not Sky HD)

If I replace it with this HD Box, will I still get all the same Sky channels?

Also, will I get the same choice of channles as I get on my existing Sky Box (Shopping channels; foreign channels etc etc that can be accessed free to watch further dow the EPG?) Is there some sort of scan option available?

Thanks
#32
One thing, including the OP keeps mentioning is that this satellite receiver will receive " Freeview " channels, it will not, well at least not all of them, nor will any satellite receiver.

Freeview is only available via an aerial, not a dish.

Bit of advice for anyone going down the motorised dish route (move-able dish), you need to mount the dish on a south-facing wall ,below gutter level , without any trees , tall buildings in the immediate vacinity . good site for setup is http://www.dishpointer.com/
i believe the further north you are , the bigger the dish required , depending on what you wish to view ,( My mate :whistling: gets some decent adult channels)
A good site i have used for advice and how-to guides is http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/ pretty knowledgable bunch and always willing to help ,

So guys dont get buying dvds ILLEGAL copy them and send them back
and dont buy any of those ILLEGAL mobile phones on here because we all know you will flash the firmware.

Not the case. This box can be manipulated by flashing the firmware. absolutely nothing wrong with buying a standard box like this.

Very keen on this deal. As someone new to all this could somebody suggest everything I'd need to pick free sports or cheaper sports via digitalb sports, cards, etc.. And the link for motorised dish! Cheers my dears.
