Is this better than this one previously listed on here?

http://www.marksandspencer.com/Sony-Bravia-KDL-40V5810U-Full-freesat/dp/B0032ACS3M

After 5% quidco this works out roughly around the same price but for a 40" screen, however, not sure about technical things to do with these tv's so advice to which is best would REALLY be appreciated.

FreeSat is a different technology - needs a satellite dish fitting. sat cable goes straight into the Freesat TV that you are referring to
FreeView is via aerial, no dish needed. Freeview HD is new and just being rolled out.

Check that you can feceive freesview, we had our TV installed yesterday but we do not have access to freeview, it does not matter as we have Sky but please check, if you are buying it for Freeview.

Thanks OP - seems a good deal. Have some H&R.

There is a 3 year warranty free with this set too (via mail in form downloaded from Amazon).

Just ordered.

Of course, you do need to be in an area where Freeview HD is being broadcast at a strength that gives a watchable picture, many areas (including some that are already switched over to digital) aren't being upgraded until after the world cup.

Taken from: The Register

Area | Transmitter group | Date
Manchester | Winter Hill | 2 Dec 2009
London | Crystal Palace | 2 Dec 2009
Newcastle and Tyneside | Pontop Pike | Feb 2010
Leeds / Bradford | Emley Moor | March 2010
Birmingham | Lichfield | March 2010
Liverpool, central Lancashire, Cheshire, north Staffordshire | Winter Hill relays | March 2010
Exeter, parts of Devon, Somerset, Dorset | Stockland Hill | April 2010
Bristol, Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire | Mendip | April 2010
Devon, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly | Beacon Hill, Caradon Hill, Huntshaw Cross, Redruth | Aug 2010
Cumbria and the Lake District | Caldbeck | Oct 2010

After this Freeview HD is made available during the normal digital switchover for all other regions. (Assuming this is still on schedule anyway, the original post was in November)
