Spotted this instore at Zavvi

Looks very good quality - nice and flexible unlike some cheapies I've had in the past.
Nothing on the packaging mentions 1.3 - anyone noticed a difference?

first post :)

That is a complete lie, and I wish people like you were punishable by law for posting just blatant lies that could affect a company.

there was some news on the 12th of E&Y being involved with zavvi to figure out their finances... seems like either the same story with a different spin or it really has gone into admin

You know what... I do.

I'm not gonna try and get out of it (not that I could - the evidence is pretty damning), so rannoch - I fully apologise to you, both for calling your a liar, and for my awful attitude.

I won't bother editing my post, as that would be a cover up - but I'm sorry. I got it wrong.

forget about Zavii for a moment.

Can someone give details of this offer?

Im soon to get a HDTV.

Advice regarding this HDMI please.

Is it cheaper anywere else?

Are there any disadvantages using this cheap one compared to a branded expensive one.

I only need it for HDTV + wii/PS3

As long as you buy a reasonable quality one (ie. not one in a £ shop that's going to fall apart) then they're all the same.

so you been into zavvi today  :w00t:

read the title "INSTORE" oh and btw the website is down and has been for a while ........

Re the "spend your gift vouchers now" comment - its now too late to spend the vouchers in the shops.

Zavvi is in administration and so voucher holders are creditors and have to join the queue along with other creditors (unpaid suppliers etc etc) to see if they might get a partial refund.

More info at the zavvi website from the Administrators on what to do to claim against vouchers - there are different rules depending on the date the vouchers were purchased.

'Quality' hdmi cables are a con (esp the £80 ones they try and sell you with your TV, etc). I buy mine from a company on ebay which makes it's own, they are decent quality, look the business and cost less than £5.
#22
Will this work with a PS3?
#23
Yes they will.

Pshaw. Next you'll be telling me my £2,000 mains power cable is a waste of money :p

I dont understand why peeps have to mention as a statement that stores are in administration...does it take away from the fact that 3.99 is a good soddin price for a HDMI cable? Worried about refunds? lol...get a grip people.

Merry xmas bah humbug*rs.

Tomorrow you are going to find lots of bargainous boxsets, games, dvds, etc etc in Zavvi....still going to whinge that they are in administration?

OH MY GOD!!!

:-D

£4 for a 2M HDMI cable is good value, though I think I would prefer to get it from ebay, as there are no zavvi stores near me.

"£2,000 mains power cable"
is this cable good enough for my Microwave ?

Lol at anyone who pays that much for an HDMI cable.

Hey. Dont laugh, but I paid a high price for my HDMI cables.

I bought them over a year ago though; 3 cables, imported from usa (as it was working out cheaper that way); 1.3 compliant, cost me about £140 all in.

At the time, the stores in the UK were selling the cheapest HDMI cables at a lower cost, but the premium brands were charging ridiculous prices.

The reason why I paid a high price was due to the long lengths - I believe the longest cable was around 12M in length. Also the cables are going to be recessed into the walls/ceilings, never to be replaced again, hence, they I wanted them to be top quality as digging up the walls/ceilings at a later date is simply not going to happen.

In general, the longer the cable, the more the need for higher quality. If however, your digital cable is short (ie. around 2.5M or less), get the cheapest you can find.

Ditto, its a con. I blame the shopfloor sales staff of stores like pc world/comet/currys etc...the amount of duff advice i've overheard them spin to customers is criminal.

Sounds like your trying to justify the price you paid to yourself...but hey if if your happy with it, then thats what counts.

i predicted this after the woolies collapse....**** poor management imo....firstly why only use one distributor (woolies subsidary), why no contigency and why was their stock so expensive....

shame for the employees, but unfortunately there are too many players in a diminishing market....same happened to telecoms over the past 5 years

i cant see hmv surviving either....what products do they sell, that i cant buy on the net cheaper and quicker...dsg will have to slim down, why dixons/pc world and currys - they are all selling nearly the same stuff now?....companies on the high st have to have a differentiator to those net companies......
#34
Thanks, just got one of these from the Trafford Centre store. They are all still marked up at £10, but it was quite funny seeing other people who must use this forum wandering round with one in their hands looking for a staff member to scan them to check the price :D

A few left there, some in the PS3 section and others in the 'bargain bins' by the Xbox 360 accessories
