Meadowhall had dozens yesterday. Doesnt say what spec they.

Dont know if still active but another thread says virgin card holders get extra 10%

Apparently you only notice a difference in quality of cheap v expensive when the cable is pretty long.

Blockbuster do the official Quick Charge Kit for the 360 for £1 second hand.

If they try selling it to you for more than that slap them, that's what it scans at. Trust me, I worked there.

They actually had HDMI cables ranging from £3.99 £4.99 £9.99 and £39.99 in Zavvi when i went today.

Obiovusly the £3.99 is the cheaper 1, id give that 1 a pass and buy atleast the nx 1 up. I think it was a Venom cable, which i used before and have been happy with them. Plus those cheaper cables dont list specs so their probably old stock and getting rid of them.

it will be even cheaper, because zavvi is following woolworths!!!!!!!!! (mean going to administration), so dont be surprise if you get 90% off sale there too......................
#10
bargain123hunter have you been living in a cave because they have been in administration since 24/12!

you'll only get that kinda sale from them if they don't find a buyer for the company - even at that the stock may get bought out by a competitor from the administrator as a bulk buy

I have tested nickel hdmi's againt QED £200 HDMI's and I couldnt see any difference whatsoever, I would never pay more than a fiver for a hdmi unless I needed 10metres+ even then I got one before for about £15

Since when did the expensive ones - and I mean specs, rather than marketing-driven baloney? :whistling:

It's the Venom one which is at £3.99. It was labelled up at £10 when I got mine but scanned at £3.99.

As far as I am aware, as it is a digital signal you will not notice any increase, or decrease in picture quality no matter what cable you buy. As previously stated, it may be noticeable over longer cables, but I seriously doubt it.

Think of digital transmission as like a ship flashing morse code to the shore. If there is a bit of mist, you can still decode the message with no difficulty but beyond a certain point the light suddenly gets very indistinct and you have no idea what's being said. That's how digital signals tend to behave - no corruption at all below a certain cable length, then you'll suddenly start to see very noticeable errors. But that's no reason to pay over the odds for a stupid branded cable.

its ppl like this that should be shot ... zavvi web site doesnt show much now and if they got their heads out of the christmas turkey they would know prices are dropping fast in stores

And its another case of can you actually get hold of any as well.

Went into my Zavvi and they had 2 lots of HDMI cables out, one at £40.
Asked about the price of the others and was abruptly told £40 as well, even htough they were shorter and of a different brand.

Cold for me as you can get HDMI all over the place now for decent non rip off prices

was you lookinh in the bargain bins at the ends of the rows or just picking up premium leads from the shelf its only in the bins that are stickered .. as with the staff being abit off ..how would you feel new yr possible that your job not going to last as long as your credit card debt???
:viking::viking::viking::viking:

BTW if you can get a 2mtr hdmi gold lead for less that £3.99 please post im sure it will get some heat n rep for you!
#22
nice ....heat and rep added

Plenty in stock in the Manchester Arndale yesterday, priced 3.99 (reduced from 10) and a further 10% off at checkout, so effectively only 3:60 for a decent quality Venom branded cable:)

A quick check on their website and it looks like these are rated v1.3 too http://www.venomuk.com/news/news-details.asp?id=34

Since HDMI is digital like scart it doesnt matter a monkeys what cable you get. They are all the same.

Oh dear - another ill-informed comment. SCART is analogue, not digital, and digital signals are not immune to problems - please read my earlier posting.

Well - my understanding was that it depends if SCART is used in composite or RGB mode. "The signals carried by SCART include both composite and RGB (with composite synchronisation) video, stereo audio input/output and digital signalling." But i guess you are more familiar with the tech on scart.

My point is that HDMI cables (albeit of whatever short length) similar to scart wont matter if you get a heavyweight name brand or a cheapie. Gold connectors would help, but even a £3 one on amazon has that.

Maybe if you got your head out of the turkey you'd understand what the rest of us did - that he searched HUKD for 'zavvi' and 'hdmi' and, finding nothing, posted the deal.

Make sure you save a bullet for yourself... :-D:p

I got a Ross 1.5M HDMI cable from Sainsburys today for £4.99 down from £9.99.(Still have a few left)

I am happy to pay £4.99 for a branded cable, I paid £2.99 in Home Bargains six months ago and that one works fine but is unbranded.

But agree paying over £10 for an HDMI cable under 10M in length complete waste of time

a bit off topic but i bought PGR 4 at gamestation for £15 new (i know its cheaper online if in stock )
In Zavvi it was a whopping £45 no wonder they are going under
