Search : Hdmi Dvi on currys website to see. Reserve online, collect instore.
Product Code: 103212

Just found these while looking for an adapter to plug an upscaling Freeview box into my monitor.
They're gold plated, seem well made and works fine for me so far.

They go for about £8.45 on ebay delivered. The others currys sell are £15

Its not worth getting them delivered as they charge about a fiver for delivery.

Unfortunately DVI does not carry sound like HDMI so to get sound you will either need to connect the PS3 to a home theatre system via the optical cable (for full surround sound) or via phono leads (for stereo/pro logic sound).

Thanks to the original poster as I have have just picked up the HDMI to DVI adapter along with a 1.8m HDMI to HDMI lead from Currys in Chelmsford for the pricely total sum of £9.94!

The monitor I have supports HDCP. I'll just have to use another cable for the sounds and I'm ready to roll!

so do i need to use the red and white cables?

So, any A/V Buffs out there, could you tell me if speaking hypathetically, if you had a freeview box that has HDMI support, you could connect it to a monitor with this? (if the monitor supports HDCP, which mine does - SyncMaster 223Bw)

Thanks,

G

does anyone know if this will work the 'other' way around.

i.e. can i use this on my DVI graphics cad then connect this via HDMI to my TV?

nope - you need a dvi to hdmi adaptor and you'll need some audio connectors too.

Which version of DVI is this A, B or C?

Good find - They still have them at the St Anne's store in Manchester, I've just reserved mine.
This hook the xbox 360 nicely to my TFT Monitor!

I ordered one, for store pickup, the website said the store had it in stock.

I receive a telephone call 30 mins later from the store saying they don't actually have this one but they do have another 'better one' for £9.99.

Total bait and switch trick IMO. Still voted hot the OP though.

"Temporarily out of stock"...

And the price ending in 7 seems to indicate that it's been discontinued (that's a sort of code they use at DSGi). Please let us know if anybody could get one!

Well I'm off to Bradford Forster Square at lunch to pick one up

(Not that I have my reservation as I stupidly left it at home but they should be able to pull it up!)

That is just an HDMI cable, which you will need with the Currys adapter.
This from CCL is a cheaper alternative HDMI to DVD including 2m cable for £5.38 delivered.;-)

What would the quality be like if I was to use this to connect my laptop to my TV (720p)?

Wrong actually I have it connected to my DVI port of my PC and to HDMI in on my HDTV lol

Think you are mixing up the type of adaptor.

Nice one , i can confirm the reduction is purely due to new packaging.

There are still 5 available at Currys in Dewsbury, next to the same item in a larger ( newer) blue package priced £9.99

They also had pack of 25 Verbatim DVD+RW for £4.97, one left.sku 091051

I'm off to go sulk in a corner!

The adapter works great displaying my Media box through HDMI channel rather than VGA channel.

But the red/white inputs on my tele don't include the HDMI channel so basically I'm screwed
