More of a heads up than anything else.

I went past today and they have signs up saying that they are closing tomorrow. As per previous posts all games are less than £10 (what they have left) but now they are reduced further, staff member suggested that tomorrow they may be dropping futher to clear.

Blimey, every store that tries to replace Virgin seems to fail.

Heat.

Think their problem was bad management, there were always a few really good offers but a lot of their stuff was priced higher than HMV!!!

>> all games are less than £10

TBH, most of the games I've seen in Leeds are less than £10 anyway, so I doubt they've reduced much...
#4
Head was only ever meant to be temp anyway.

I'll check it out tomorrow.

Thanks.

Yeah, thats what I thought, wasn't it set up to clear the remnants from Entertainment UK?

think it was basically the remainder of the stock and a few shops bought by a couple of the old members of management of zavvi, hence why as far as I can tell they never got new stock?
#9
I've seen some with Woolworths stock

Cheers, 'cos texts lack emotion or expression Im not sure if you are being sarcastic or not (i.e. insenstive to staff who will be out of work just before xmas..... I do feel for you guys!!) but thanks anyway

I don't feel for them in anyway. Why be sensitive, it's life! Anyone who feels for them should be in my shoes! Maybe if they did their jobs better they'd have sold more stuff and would still be in work :whistling:

Got a few albums for 99p each and a dvd and Animatrix Blu Ray for £7. This was first thing so they may have reduced prices more now.

I asked some fat guy behind the counter if they were going to reduce blu rays anymore and he shouted at me "NO"

I remember working for MVC, the Woolworth's music store, and part of the Entertainment UK collection of companies, and as a mere plebby member of retail staff, I couldn't for the life of me wonder why EUK would supply Tesco and the like with stock cheaper than their OWN company?

It's a tough world retail tho, I know we had a good name for customer service, but I also know people would come in, ask us stuff, get us to look up info, ask to listen to CDs etc, then go buy em elsewhere a pound cheaper, and I can't blame em at all, but it does show that customer service doesn't seem to count for much :D

I fear there's little space left in the real world for anything but the top 10 and very popular titles any more, most 'enthusiasts' will already be shopping online and knowing what they want.

There wasn't much cheap tbh, they had about 5 blu rays for £4.99, a few DVDs for £2.99 and a few albums at 99p

everything else was the same price as before.

Agreed. I went this morning and considering there are 1000's of titles for sale, I left after spending £20.97 - with nowt for me! I wouldn't consider it a 'Closing Down' sale at all.

just back from head they were putting all blurays at the back into boxes as soon as i walked in and all the games were the same price deadspace ps3 £9.99 and condemned 2 £7.99 saw oceans thirteen bluray for £4.99

Wonder if they already have a buyer for the surplus stock!?!? I would have expected them to be giving the stuff away by 12pm otherwise as they would then have to sort out alternative storage etc?!?! Perhaps they are consolidating their outlets so this merging some stock into other stores?!?! I dunno, anyway, sorry guys if anyone has had a wasted a trip, I did say "suggested" perhaps it was just his opinion??
#25
Serves the guy right but I feel sorry for the staff.
#26
I think there was some court case over treatment of staff yesterday in Leeds, so I don't think the Leeds store will be open much longer to be honest!
#27
Well just as happened last year the new rental periods for shops comes at Christmas so if there was ever a good time to give up on a store, this is it.
