An ideal racket for the new player looking to quickly improve their game. HEAD's Metallix matrix of fibre alloys have a grain size that is 1,000 times smaller than that of a typical metal. This results in a stronger material which in turn offers a lighter, stable and more powerful racket. The Top Cap creates a flat surface on the top of the handle for excellent feel on serving and optimal handling for fast speed reaction, particularly for doubles play. In the HEAD Power Frame system the main and cross stings are of equal length, enlarging the sweet spot for more precise and consistent shots.

"In short: the Head Metallix 4000 is one of my all-time favourite badminton rackets. Having owned several high-end Yonexes, including the Arcsaber 10, Armortec 700 and Nanospeed 9000, the Head Metallix 4000 - in my opinion - rates amongst the very best out there. Over the years I have made the mistake of assuming that you needed to spend `big' in order to obtain a decent racket. The Metallix 4000 proves this assumption wrong. Whilst I still rate Yonex rackets very highly I am more than impressed with this particular HEAD model. Don't be fooled by its 'modest' price tag - the Metallix 4000 is rated as a competition / professional racket. It was the racket of choice for former World No.2 and 2003 All-England champion Zhou Mi before she retired.
Specification-wise, it has an even-to-headlight balance, a mid flex shaft, and is capable of being strung at extra-high tensions; around 28lbs. Similarly, build quality is also very good, comparable to much more expensive models. Aesthetically, it differs somewhat from the current trend of `candy' colour racket designs at the moment - which I like. The black and silver chrome differently represent a very understated yet attractive design.
In terms of playability I would probably rate the 4000 as a very capability all-round racket. In other words, it is equally good in both defence and offence. It has a very slim frame, comparable to my previous Arc 10, thus making it very manoeuvrable when it comes to defence. Offensively, despite being even-to-head light, the 4000 performs admirably. Being head-light, the player is able to swing the racket that little bit faster compared to a head-heavy frame such as an Armortec. Despite Amazon and other online retailers now selling it heavily discounted, I would not grudge paying the full RRP - it really is that good. "
