Sick of your Nintendo 3DS already? Want to make a bit of cash? If you visit the CeX website, and place a "Sell-To" order with CeX for your unwanted console, they will happily (read: foolishly) part with £200 of their Benjamins for your unwanted console.

This means that wherever you buy your console from (apart from the Littlewoods group!) you can make a bit of bunse in the process!

Hope this helps some poeple who are suffereing from migranes having stared at the screen for too long!

:)

Be wary about asking for cash instore; I have taken a number of games down there and often get told "no cash today"!

Indeed, that is why I have recommended placing a "Sell-To" order online. :)

Best to do a sellto online and get it direct to your bank.

They're selling these for £280 which is exactly what they did with the first Wii. I bought mine before christmas, had it for 3 months then sold it to them for more than I paid for it. Chumps.
I just can't see how they made any money out of it...it was after christmas so the demand for them had majorly slumped.

If CEX do have the cash, you can't really go wrong. Even make a few pennies more if you use your cash back credit card!!!
#5
P.S If you do go down the in-store route they probably will have cash available to buy Nintendo 3DSs. I remember when the PSP launched and I bought 10 of them (the whole of Virgin Megastores' supply!), I went to CeX and was waiting in the queue while they told people they didn't have enough money for their XBOX 360 games, then I walked up to the coutner with my 10 PSPs and they happily handed over £2300 cash. (I did feel slightly bad for the people who bought them from CeX)

Got £241 cash today with Super Monkeyball 3D for my pre-order using credit at HMV.

Then bought another for £209 inc game from curry's.

Oh well - saved me £32 on my 3DS.

Yep CEX (like Gamestation) usually have the egotistical 'I m a computer god nerd type' 20 something person working for them. And like the bouncer on the door of a cheap club they behave like a menstruating Hitler with their little bit of power.

Yes, I am not a fan of their stores either, they are both unclean and have staff with apalling customer service (at least the two I have visted do).

I hope you guys make this store bust it is the worst CS i have ever seen
They tend to not like the Job (at all) so why the hell are they working their it always seems like they are doing you a favour when i was Inidana Hunting on wii
You dont know how many times they sold me damaged goods and wouldnt take it back i mean wtf
I should start firing rounds into the air aimlessly to get a silly refund

Now here they are with pricing similar to that of oneof those annoying corner shops
£can of coke YEAH RIGHT
Noobs at business.com for sure

Please relay the details of the second Wii. Does it have a HDMI port? :)

I suspect that was more to do with supply & demand for the item(s) being bought & how quickly the assets can be turned into sales. Games may stay on the shelves for months. New consoles on the day of release will probably be gone by the end of the same day.

However, may I borrow your time machine for the Euro Millions lottery?

The first PlayStation Portable was available in the UK on 1 September 2005.

The Xbox 360 was not in the UK until 10 December 2005.

Leave the keys at reception I'll drop them off later.

Thanks.

great scam if you can pull it off - got a feeling though that if a few people do this then the price CEX offer will rapidly fall. Voted hot anyway.

Re comments about their staff - completely agree - they (generally) strike me as graduates who refuse to grow out of their student lifestyle or people who will still be living with their parents when they turn 40.
I'm still amazed CEX is in business - they sell second hand items at a higher price than brand new purchases from the internet, yet people still buy from them - weird.

Thanks fully all sites such as price minister and amazon have policy of one per a customer. So traders can not buy in masses and stick on the bay or sell to CeX.

Whoops, slight innacuracy. It was probably original XBOX games.

Still waiting for my 3DS, ordered from game.co.uk with 'guaranteed' delivery today. It's been sat at the stoke depot since 3am this morning. Hasn't been loaded onto the van for delivery. Looks like I'm not getting it this week...

Not really that surprising when you see idiots buying overpriced goods from ebay all the time, that with a small internet search you could find alot cheaper.

Aren't the online 'sell-it' prices subject to change whenever? So if they receive your 'unwanted' console 3 days after you place the order, they would pay you the current price then, which may be significantly less.

I've sold hundreds of things to CeX in store and unless you get there at 9am, they won't have cash (not even a tenner according to them). I've never sold to them online, but I recall hearing complaints on another forum about their prices changing.

Also, don't expect it to be taken as 'A' condition unless it is absolutely unused. Perhaps wipe it to factory settings to convince them!

dont get excited about getting your money back to fast from them as they have taken in access of a month to pay for goods sent in so make sure you get a signed for delivery then just keep emailing as the customer support is non existent for the phone, i learnt my lesson with them at xmas and although the profits to be made are good to me and many others on facebook page consider the risk far greater. consider your choice carefully, if possible to do a walk in then at least its instant.

i wish they were more trusting as i would profit £47 from my iwoot buy !

Your missing the point of this site, if noone points out "deals/loopholes/tricks/misprices" so they can get better deals themselves then this site would not exist!

£215 of their Benjamins

Just so you know, one "Benjamin" is one US $100 bill. It has Benjamin Franklin on it. Hence the slang term.

I agree, a while back I took a game that was still shrink-wrapped. Idiot asked why it was still wrapped. Just said I haven't played it and if he didn't want it then I'll just leave... flippin indiot.

You are right, but it is also a slang term used, more generically in place of 'money', hence being acceptable within the context I used it.

To minimise risk [& because bosh has made "the world" aware now! ;)] I would place an online "sell to" request now for as many as you think you can source. You are not committing yourself to selling. You can just let the request "timeout" in 5 days time.

Then go to your local supermarket & buy a few (say, four or five) & take them into your local "Computer Exchange" for cash in-hand.

Sell them as single units, or two at a time at most. Don't say "here's five..." (especially if you have only bought four). Go out & come back in again. Try to speak to different members of staff (if there is more than one available).

If they refuse the second (or subsequent) "batches", go home & organise to send the rest by Special Delivery. If you print the "sell to" request(s) in advance you can just go straight to the Post Office.

If "Computer Exchange" refuse them because they learn of the "scam" you can just return them to the supermarket (within a "reasonable" time period; 28 days according to the "Supply of Goods and Services Act(s)").

The "walk in" cash in-hand approach minimises the chance of losing money or losing the opportunity to return the consoles to the original source for a refund if they do take a month (or more) to pay. There is also the financial implications of buying on a credit card (if applicable) & the interest incurred in the interim period before payment is received to factor in to your wheeling & dealing as well.

BFN,

fp.
