Looking into giving up cigarettes, I found these on DealExtreme. Reading reviews, people's main concern were the money issues and are substituting real fags for these things - in theory saving loads of money. My main concern is my health.

Anyway, might help someone else in giving up or at least help in cuttting down on their smoking bill.

You can also smoke these things indoors without worrying about passive smoking.

Not sure if currency conversion is correct - you can also buy the refills on the site cheaply as well.

I remember reading about these on the bbc site if anyone wants more information:

Fears over electronic cigarettes
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7658603.stm

Electronic cigarettes on the rise
http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/health/newsid_7658000/7658566.stm

Good luck to anyone trying to give up though, it's horrible seeing people die because of those things.
It also sucks that second hand smoke is more harmful than first hand smoke. So they're harming other people more than themselves by smoking.

Edit to add:
Just found this too, but i'm not sure this is exactly a reliable source:

i got one for my mrs about a month ago (super cig brand) for £25, she used to smoke 10-15 a day for 10 years and has only had 5 this month. They dont smell and work out to approx £20 odd cheaper a week, i dont smoke so cant really say how they feel ect but they do work and are worth a go.

hope this helps

I'm a long time cigar smoker, and bought an electronic cigar a while back.
Haven't moved totally over to it yet, but it's helped me cut down.
Got mine from a Uk shop as well

my honest opinion........smoking is a chemical addiction, just like cocaine, or any other stimulating drug.

Best option..........see a decent hypnotherapist. I can point you in the direction of a good one, regardless of where you live....

I've been stopped for about 6 months now and this is my 3rd shot at it. I am using the nicorette inhalator and use no more than 2 cartridges a day. It costs me approx £20 per month using this and I feel great, I really don't want a cigarette, I hate the smell of smoke now, it makes me feel sick. I am a bit worried about some of the reports on the electronic cigarette so I think I will stick with my inhalator for now.

But it works for some people, that's the point! I wonder what the statistics are for people using hypnotherapy as a method to quitting smoking?

The first and most important step to take when quitting is understanding that it's all in the mind, once you've crossed that bridge, you've won half the battle.

I was a smoker for 30 years, at least 20 a day, and tried everything to stop many times including hypnotherapy, patches, tablets, fake cigs and failed everytime. i had one last go at hypnotherapy with a chap that came highly recommended 22 months ago and have not put one to my lips since i walked out of the room... anything is worth a try to stop smoking

I bought an electric cigarette last week to help me quit smoking. You get a similar nicotine kick from it as you would a conventional cigarette, but with none of the tar or carbon monoxide. As a device to turn to when you're feeling the craving - particularly when you're having a drink - I've found it pretty useful. On the downside, they're a bit chunky, and the one I've got whistles when I inhale through it. I haven't had a proper cigarette now for over two weeks though.

I really don't appreciate why people would be cool on this deal, but I'm definately feeling the heat!

Hey thanks everyone for the useful info all coming in. May help me and others in giving up the habit. Those tablets sound interesting. I think i'll give them a shot - all else fails I think i'll get hypnotherapy. Thanks for the link to the list K13.

no problems...im a hypnotherapist myself, as is my mother......Smoking....YOU have to WANT to stop.....

Stopping because the doctor told you, you NEED to stop....thats no good !

Hot 'n' Smokin' :)

I got an e-cig a couple of months ago to use in the pub so I didn't have to freeze my **** off outside whenever I wanted a puff.
I didn't buy it to give up smoking - I like smoking and had no intention of giving up but I haven't smoked a normal cig in 3 weeks - it's saving me a fortune and apparently I'll now live longer to spend my savings :)

some ****er put stars '****' where I wrote a-r-s-e !
