For 14th February?
I thought it was April 1st!

It's had my mind running amok, just thinking of presenting one of these to someone on Valentine's day! At least it's the right shape when they tell you where to stick it! ;-)

I wonder if these heart shaped cucumber things have been genetically modified especially for valentines day.

there was a show about this on how they make shaped cucumbers, it's just grown in a mould, so there is nothing injected into to them make them crazy.

Ha ha growing something in a mould is hardly 'playing with nature' , not as if they have created some half dog half cucumber mutant that wants to take over the world.

Genetically modified to be heart shaped? Come on, think about how genetics work for a second.

It's simply a mould placed over it during growth. It happens with other vegetables, and fruit too. I can't remember exactly which country, but in Asia apples are grown with faces on and they're very popular.

I wonder how much market penetration they’re anticipating?

I wonder if Sainsbury and Ann Summers could pair up to grow one in a Rampent Rabbit mould? Suely that would pentrate the market better!

lol. As opposed to the rest of the food you eat; the cucumbers that grow wild in the rainforest, the flocks of wild chickens you see in the New Forest, the herds of Freesian cows that roam around er... Freesia. About the only food that hasn't been messed with in some way is wild caught fish - and most of that's endangered as a result.

This isn't new, growing cucumbers (and other fruit n veg) in moulds to make 'em weird shapes was very popular up 'til about the 1st World War when it became too expensive to pay the gardeners.
