Travel from 25th August 2008 to 30th June 2009. Must book by 23rd September 2008.
I also tried this on the British Airways site for a test and flying Heathrow to JFK on 1st Oct '08 returning 8th Oct '08 was £298.50.

Heathrow to JFK on 1st Oct '08 returning 8th Oct '08 is £298.40 with Virgin Atlantic, and I'd pick them over BA any day.

That's fine if that's your preference.

Do Virgin fly to all the other destinations listed for the same price or cheaper? It's a genuine question because i haven't checked.

I've no idea, as I can't be bothered to check em either, but I'll say yes they will do :)

Exactly.

The point of posting this is to let everyone know that British Airways have a sale on and their fares are cheaper than usual.
#5
and my point was to let everyone know that Virgin prices are the same (or even cheaper in some cases - the ones i've checked Barbados, Miami, Cape Town etc) and they are their regular prices, not sale ones, and so will most likely go down.

When it comes to airlines I don't think you can compare them like for like.

They are all different, and it matters when you're travelling long distances.

Thats my 2 cents....

BA say this price includes all extra charges. I'm compressed - dunno why people vote it cold.

Ha-ha, how do you know? - you said you couldn't be bothered to check.

If you're so sure why didn't you post a deal all of your own instead of jumping on this one?

All i can say is i'm not a member on HUKD to seek heat, but to share deals with people.

If people vote cold you can take advantage of what you consider to be a good deal.

Enjoy.

I bookedfor me and the Mrs to fly from LON to LAS returning from SFO to LON with Virign and wanted to change my return flight to LAX to LON two days later.

In the end I spoke to three different people and was quoted £760 then £360 before finally being told I could do it for £100. Didnt think much of their customer service at all as it was only perserverance which enabled me to change my flight and no reason was offered to the differing prices.

Oh and when calcualted online my new flight journeys were cheaper than my old ones. Not a great start with Virgin from me.

Actually I did check some, and Virgin were cheaper. Either airline prices arent worthy of being called 'deals' though IMO. London to NY should be under £200, not nearly £300
#12
why is it cold??has any1 fund similar deal for £150? If not, stop voting cold.

Yes i see you edited your original replies.

Again that's your opinion.

See post #10 then leave these fares to the rest of us.

Even if i have only helped one person book a trip to New York (by posting info about these reduced fares), that they wouldn't have previously thought about booking, then it's worth it.

Sorry for that reply Babbabooey - i now realise why you didn't post a deal all of your own - i've seen your public profile and it's because you haven't posted a single deal in the whole THIRTEEN MONTHS that you've been a member on HUKD.

The fu**ing cheek!

Point me to anywhere on here that says that all memebers must post deals ?
Exactly, it doesn't.

Judging from the minus votes on this 'deal' it seems most other folk agree with me.

You still here?

Minus votes (or plus for that matter) mean nothing as far as i'm concerned as long as people can benifit from the posting of a deal.

There's too many heat-obsessed people around.

You're right there's nowhere that says all members must post deals, but (seeing as we've had your opinion today) - my opinion is that it's pretty p*ss poor and rather selfish. IMO

yeah, sure they mean nothing to you, thats why you've been in such a hissy fit about my reply saying its not a good deal.

ta ta now monkey.

Babbabooey how about finding something constructive to say. Goodfella is pointing out a deal which is kind of why I go to this site and if you went around doing that to everyone no one would post here. if you don't like the deal or its not for you just move on and find one that floats your boat.

Goodfella, cheers for the posting the girl in my office has booked with BA (as they were her choice of airline over companies like Zoom that i recommended to her) and paid well over £800 for 2 return flights a few weeks ago so I have had a good old fashioned gloat which IMO is well worth the post for gloating rights alone!! :-)

I view this an advice sharing site so I am grateful to both the OP and Babbabooey and all of you for sharing your opinions. I view all replies as useful guidance on the deal. For what it is worth my view is that BA are completely pants for leg room and service and I'd rather fly just about anyone else even if it cost more - I suspect that will explain the cold votes.

Constructive like saying you can get the same deal at another airline, hence giving people another option? See my first post, which would have been the end of it (one comment and one vote), until the OP decide to keep replying to defend his post and then me defending mine.

Hey OP, can't we all just be :friends:
This site would be nothing if people didn't put their own opinions in, which is the whole reason why there's the voting option, no need to get annoyed just cos someone doesn't agree with you.

why not start a virgin post? could be your first post!!

voted cold only cause its not really a hot deal - as someone pointed out virgin does this anyway.

find me something for £250 or less and i'll vote it hot, especailly cause i need to go to new york twice over the next 3 months...

oh and by the way, you should learn to check your facts before making false allegations.

Hey people, when somone says ta ta, i don't expect to log back in and find they've still been chirpin' away an hour and a half later!

ONE post in THIRTEEN months. I stand corrected - even though his public profile actually does say none.

To everyone who has taken advantage of this deal, well done for overlooking the votes regardless of what temperature the deal has. As i said earlier, if a deal's good for you then great.

That's what this site is all about - generally trying to find discounts, price reductions and deals then being honest enough to make a post to share your findings with others instead of take, take, take as others do.

monkey, why don't you do everyone a favour here and f*ck off yeah. grow up.

I was looking to book a "free" BA Miles flight to New York with BA or Virgin and the "fees and taxes" amounted to just over £300. This either means that £300 really is the baseline price for a flight to New York (ie the cheapest that can be offered out of LHR) or that the airlines are inflating their "fees and taxes". I will leave for you to decide!
