This is the company that bought HP sauce and then immediately announced it was going to close the British factory and transfer the production to the Netherlands.

A deal is a deal. I always buy beans when they're on offer. When they are "normally" priced they are considerably more expensive.

I was always I Heinz man but they seem a bit watery recently - Branston are the business....and nice and cheap in Home Bargains :)
#21
I love Beans on toast, in fact im gonna have some right now:p

But it is not a deal that is saving a few pence. It is a deal that is a genuine half price deal.Anything that is genuinely half price of it's normal selling price is a great deal.

Problem there is anyone living south of Kettering, Northants won't have a Home Bargains. That shop is the dogs -- for bargains though i have to admit.

I love bake beans, too but i can eat as much as i want because "the side effect" as it is called, already happens without the help of them!:giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

A little known secret of how to make regular beans i.e ownbrand to taste as good as heinz is to cook them slowly with a little bit of olive oil or sunflower until they "Crack" this is a great student trick

I was in a cafe yesterday when an old man came in and ordered two tins of beans on toast, he really enjoyed them. 1 min after leaving, a policeman rushed in and said he had just died outside the door!. Thats funny said the cafe owner, he was full of beans when he left.

For all the 'bean-lovers' the following is from the BBC.Co.UK site...I SWEAR ON MY LIFE THAT THE BBC POSTED THIS........ (link @ the bottom)

"Food for thought - Feeding yourself the student way
If you don't live at home or in catered halls, you're going to have to learn to cook for yourself. But don't panic - here are a few food essentials to help you through.

Shopping
If you are on a really tight budget, then shopping at the supermarket is not as daunting as you might think. You need to look for:
*Discount shelves - here you'll find perfectly good food but at a knockdown price. This is normally because the shop wants to sell it off quickly or it needs to be eaten that day. You'll tend to spot these towards the end of the day as the items come close to their sell-by date.
*Own brand or saver products - most big stores have their own versions of products which may not be 'haute cuisine' but are a cheaper option. They tend to taste the same too.

What to buy
Try buying in bulk if possible as it is often cheaper and saves you constantly trekking to the shops and back. However, only buy what you need and know you can use.
*Get a good basic store together of:
- Rice, pasta, flour, canned food, herbs, salt, pepper, sugar, tea, coffee
- Fresh food: milk, butter, bread, cheese, fruit and veg
Then plan a weekly menu and shop for what you need. Take a list to the supermarket so you don't forget anything. Stick to it and don't buy anything on impulse.

Cooking
*What you need: a fridge and a cooker, oven gloves, a sharp knife, some saucepans with lids, a sieve, a frying pan, a spatula, a mixing bowl, a wooden spoon, a chopping board. Some cutlery, a bowl, a plate and a cup.

If you don't know how to cook why not:
*Get a recipe book out of the library and try out some recipes - there's no need to spend lots of money on books from the bookshop.
*Ask your friends and family for recipe suggestions and quick meals. They may also have recipe books that you can use.
*Watch TV shows or look at Ceefax and write down the recipes.
*Surf the net for recipes online."

Got a great Idea 89p (4 pack) Baked Beans, beer + Dave's Insanity Sauce (148ml).
Billed as the Original Hottest Sauce in the Universe! This is the sauce that started the super hot sensation. The label states Not for people with heart or respiratory problems! As well as being a great ingredient for sauces, soups and stews the makers also claim that it strips waxed floors and removes driveway grease stains!

Sorry about that

For anyone STUPID enough to have missed Mr Fox2020's LEGENDARY hot sauce thread, follow the link....

Sounds like a plan but I really feel that with the addition of some still pretty rare, (bloody) beef or lamb into this recipe we would manage to offend quite a few more people.....
& make many more rather hungry!!!

At 20 past midnight I feel like firing up the bar-B-que & putting my stereo in the back garden...do any of you folks have any washing out??!?!?
Half-cooked bloody steaks (dandilions for the veggies)...half-baked drunken HUKD members, a huge vat of Dave's Insanely Beery beans & FIRE....mmmmmmmm, reckless!!!
