Our family has nearly half a dozen of these, totalling over half a century in usage and age.

There's a good reason Dyson needs to pay a company in UK for that 5 year warranty, build quality isn't as good...
#2
Great cleaner. Got one for years, very reliable and take good size bag that don't need changing very often.
#3
I have Hetty the hoover and she is fab! Will never buy another make of hoover again!
#4
Thumbs up from me- ditch that dyson
#5
Had a few dyson but this much better value and reliable!!....get one and u will love it :)
#6
There's a reason this hoover is more often seen in industrial buildings and commercial areas.

Cause its a trooper! Just keeps going and going....

Love them!
#7
wow! that is a fab deal - really good value for an excellent vacuum.
#8
Best vacuum you'll ever buy - good price too...will B&Q match and beat this price does anyone know?
#9
Brilliant cleaner, great suction lasts for years on end with no servicing required. Highly recommend for the sake of 72 quid.

Dyson on the other hand Very poor used to buy dyson once every 2 years brand new for about 10 years. They always break, suction isnt as good as henry. Poor poor hoover.

excellent deal, anyone know if sainsburys do a price match promise or anything ?
#13
i want one, pity my ''unreliable'' dyson is too reliable and hasnt broken down after 6 years of heavy use.

the Dyson was £100 in asda a litte while back - a far superior cleaner for a little bit more money

Surely not, that contradicts all the expert testimonials here :-D

Parents had a DC01 for 10 years, bought a new one and gave the old one away, it only needed a replacement brush and never let them down

Not to knock the old Henrys, a traditional, good simple design that lasts for years, not much to wrong with unless you abuse them. Hot deal.
#16
i can also vouch for dyson. parents have the original dc01 and still going strong.
Ive got he dc14 animal (5 years) not a single problem.
#17
Back on topic... you don't actually need to use a bag in these ;-)
#18

Yes you do.
#23
60p bag every 6months, so £12/decade... compare to... :)

These are awesome, by far the best domestic vacuum available.

Dyson can shove his roller ball vortex rubbish where the sun doesn't shine. He should put his smug adverts up there too.
#25
All I'll say is it is a shame this offer wasn't on before this dipstick nicked one!!!

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2901211/Carpeted-cop-quits-as-Henry-vacuum-cleaner-is-stolen.html

My heart goes out to him. He was only fixing it - he was gonna take it back for gods sake!!!!!
#26
Mr Twister
Yes you do.

Works without one but it's more convenient to use one.
#27
this is different to the one B&Q had for £80

OK, I don't own a Henry, nor ever have. I merely pass on the Which? verdict on the Numatic HVR200 Henry (which may not be the exact model featured here). Their verdict was simply "Don't Buy", what they said was:

Henry the cylinder vac might be cute, but his cleaning capability leaves something to be desired, so we'd recommend you give this vac a miss. The HVR200 is ok on laminate floors, but that's as good as it gets. It's poor at cleaning floorboards and terrible on carpet. It really struggles with pet hair too. And if allergens are a concern, this isn't the vac to help as it fails to effectively retain them.

It's easy to manoeuvre on floors but cleaning stairs is tricky; ease of use for this is poor. It's easy to empty, though, not too noisy and has a large 5.3 litre capacity.

It weighs in at 8.1kg and has a really long power cable (15.6 metres) so you can cover loads of floor without having to change sockets.

Pros: Easy to empty, large capacity, very long power cable

Cons: Very poor on carpet, poor on floorboards, average on laminate, very poor at retaining allergens, very poor at picking up pet hair, difficult to use on stairs

Please don't shoot the messenger. You will note that its OK on laminate floors. I bought a different vacuum that Which? also didn't like. That one was good on carpets but hopeless on laminate floors. We only have carpets. Horses for courses I suppose.

 was that Which review paid for by Dyson

It gets 9.1 out of 10 here based on 455 reviews.

The only people who pay for Which? tests are Which? members through their subscriptions. Please note I say tests, for that is what they are, scientific objective tests. Reviews tend to use the more subjective responses seen on this thread. Which? values and uses members experiences with items being tested but in the final analysis calls it as it is. Up to you though, you pays your money and makes your choice!

Problems at my local Homebase this morning, the 15% wasnt coming off , so they were giving 16% off for some strange reason - Henry came in at £71.90 :whistling:
#32
Does anyone know where to get the hoover bags for Henry..... cheap?
#33
I tend to get mine from ebay 10 bags about £5 delivered, the bags have recently been changed
from paper to the Hepaflo material type so look out your buying the newer ones.
#34
Cannot beat a fantastic sucker
#35
My uncle has had his for years and never uses a bag. So it is just preference.
#36
They're brilliant and unlike Dysons I understand they are still made in the UK - so you can still buy excellent-quality products made in the UK, unlike crappy Dyson who moved their facilities to Malaysia.
#37
Right, Hoover is a trade name for a vacuum cleaner made by Hoover,no other make. Also saying the bag lasts for 6 months or whatever period, is pointless as it depends on how often you use the thing & what you pick up!

this is different to the one B&Q had for £80

In what way ? this is the NVR200 and the one B&Q normally have whenever I go in is the NRV200-22 which are both still made by Numatic, but the NRV200-22 is branded Numatic and is the consumer version with the 3 stage filtration system and extra 2.5m on the cable length. I still see the NVR200 a better purchase than the NRV200-22 as its also greener. The NVR200 also has stainless steel rods and castors and heavier more robust NV200 drum whereas the NRV200-22 has plastic aluminium coated rods etc and the old referenced design NV drum without the better changes.

I got the commercial version at B&Q (recent offer +20% off @ £72) and it has stainless steel tubes, more robust body + wheels and an extra 5 meters of cable compared with this Homebase deal.

I get the excellent woven microfibre bags from John Lewis, 10 for £6
