Please, if you object to our forces being deployed 'wherever' please refrain from heated argument on a web forum designed to save us all moeny. This posting is the cheapest way to get a copy of this track.

Help for Heroes are delighted to announce that the Contestants of Simon Cowell’s X Factor are to release Hero by Mariah Carey to support our wounded. Help for Heroes have asked that half the proceeds be shared with the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

The song will be performed live on 25th October's show and is set to become a hit single.

Bryn Parry, Co Founder of H4H says ‘ This is a wonderful initiative by X Factor and we hope that the whole country will get behind the single. It would be fantastic if it became a hit and I would like to think that it will become the anthem for our Heroes, the extraordinary men and women who are injured while serving our country. Please get out there and buy this single and show you care; thank you.’

Yep sadly is entirely funded by poppy day or Royal British Legion donations, the Govt DO NOT fund this (as they should)

When you give you life for your country you become injured in service you are but a statistic or a service number :x
#5
Without wishing to be detrimental to the deal/advert I'd rather give money directly than further fund Cowells ego and wallet by paying for this, it's a noble charity as I think the government treats our troops like cr*p but I won't be buying this, I'll refrain from voting but I'd ask others to think about where the money's going and wouldn't it be better to give directly where there's no commission?

I don't believe Cowell's wallet has anything to do with this. I am not too sure if it is possible to give directly, but if it is I surely understand your sentiment.

EDIT

You can give direct

http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/donations.html

Oh dear, some of the above from the link seem to charge HFH for collection of money too
#7
Here Here! my sentiments exactly, I would always give directly too !!
#8
Of course you can give directly, i.e. at any office or shop there will be a comission free collection box!
#9
:xWhy did they mime is what I would love to know!:x
#10
how about donating the profits from this series of x-factor instead, should be a tidy sum.
#11
As for lining Simon's pockets, does it not say above that half of all proceeds will go to Help 4 Heroes and half to the British Legion?

So nothing left for Mr Cowell.

I won't buy the single because I thought it was bloody terrible, but if you did like it, at least you know that all of the profits fromit are going to help a worthy cause, not some pop star's drug habit or 4th Lambourgine. :whistling:

It certainly wasn't sung live. I'm almost certain they were miming.

yes maybe in your opinion it was **** but think of all the ****** these people have went through so i think a little donation to a **** single is nothing to us but lots to them. (just my opinion).

they were miming, you could tell because they kept the mic close to there mouth, plus they obviously not had any miming lessons yet

Definatly, you can always tell cos they put almost too much effort into the miming, like that shaky mouth thing gets so over exagerated.

What a let down miming it though, I mean for goodness sake they are meant to be proving they have the X factor!

Where were Daniel Evans & Ruth Lorenzo During Hero Song?

"Simon Cowell made an announcement at the start of the Xtra Factor saying that Daniel and Ruth had got locked off the stage due to a faulty door" :-D

Are you talking about being in the armed services or being on X Factor?

So what if they mimed it for gods sake?!?! Do you REALLY think there are many artists who actually sing live?!?!? If "professionals" like Girls Aloud can catastrophically cock up live like they did last week (Cheryl was particularly awful!!) then how can we expect this bunch to sing a live version..... I think that even the most ardent GA fan would steer clear if they'd heard last weeks version. At the end of the day they want to sell the record, yes its going to bolster Cowells ego but crucially the funds SHOULD go to the cause. This is where I personally have a problem. These people chose to go into the forces and knew the potential outcome (the days of "free" world trips went ages ago). HOWEVER, the Govt put them there and should look after them if they do get injured in their duty. I cant help but feel that the British public are to eager to fund what should be there in the first place.... it becomes another form of tax.

I hope that people can accept MY view and dont want an argument but I think there are too many people in this country ignoring common sense and their own beliefs (this goes far beyond this issue but its a small example) just so that they can appear PC. Sorry if this seems political... Im certainly not that, just feel that if our Govt can find £50bn to bail out our badly run banks then they can find the cash to look after EVERYONE. Merry christmas :santa:

This really ****** me off big time, its far too early to be talking about Chrimbo yet.

It totally disgusts me that they need any donations, the government should give every one of them as much as is needed to live the rest of their life in the best of comfort possible....... End of rant.

Exactly..... we are simply deminishing the Govt responsibilities, all we hear is that we have no money and then they announce the cash cow to the idiots who mismanaged their sectors and are now being absolved of responsibility :x I think that all of the Exec's who have pocketed massive bonuses and salaries shoudl be forced to sell their ill gotten gains and use it to match fund OUR contribution... instead they will no doubt get a nice golden handshake for all their "good" work!! (its way too late for this type of debate, its getting me stressed!!)

Its people like you that make me angry/sad? We should stop spending money on the Xfactor and all pay much much more tax to pay for everything (and **** of the Americans with our socialist ways).

Stop going on about Chrimbo now!

You will get used to the tangents HUKD threads usually end up going to . I liked the song mimed or not, but the show was dire, then again I ALWAYS HATE big band night :p

Hold on a minute, is it just me or is the whole concept of this thread missing the point? Quote:

"Please, if you object to our forces being deployed 'wherever' please refrain from heated argument on a web forum designed to save us all moeny. This posting is the cheapest way to get a copy of this track."

Does that not seem a bit back to front?? Its not an original track and its not even THAT good, so I would guess most would buy it to support the cause, in which case you wouldn't mind paying max price?? This seems a bit like picking up a dropped poppy and shoving it in your button hole to keep the collection box rattlers off your back. We might as well have given a link to a, ahem, "trial" version :santa::gift:

Single is totally sh*te and 63p?

How about I don't listen to some no marks digitally enhanced version of a God awful Mariah song and donate a whole five pounds!?

I don't think charity singles should be on HUKD - why would you want to get a charity single cheaper anyway, doesn't it somewhat defeat the object!?

SC could have donated the profits from X Factor, or the winners single. Yet he chose to get the 12 finalists to mime to a ****** song whilst cutting to pictures of injured soldiers. I nearly got diabetes watching it.

Charity is SO IMPORTANT but be wise and deny the publicity machine and donate direct. Quidco charge a fiver, and I bet we've all made £££ on that so go on, donate a fiver, do your bit and forget the hype.

I don't know what the fuss is, just download it every bit of money helps. Had Simon Cowell not done this. there would of not be no money input from this going in, and before this i had never heard of the Help for Heroes anyway so its brought the charity now to over 8 million people. So if you want give direct then do it, don't **** the guy for at least helping in way or another. Also I'm sure the charity appreciate its.

Duly noted as per your request.

However, we still (I think) live in a country that allows free speech and opinion (apart from anything to do with race, religion or sexuality that is!!). As such can I respectfully reserve the right to request that I stick to my opinion? i.e. its a bit cheap to look for ways to save money on charity events and a bit hypocritical to support a charity in such a way. I for one would be happy to pay up if I truly supported the cause, can I refer back to my "poppy" comment in post 35.... :whistling:

Despite how awful the single is, I am grateful to this thread, and to the show, for raising awareness of this important charity

Got mine.. and will keep giving money to any Forces charity.
