I made my 1st post about 2 weeks ago and this deal went ballistic! nearly 1000 degrees! Unfortunately I did not get around to buying one for myself until the Sunday, when the price had gone up to £15.99. :-). However, I am glad to say the deal is back now at £13.99! And I'm ordering mine straight away!!!

This is my 1st post, but really couldn't resist this offer as I was going to buy one last week from the high street at twice this price (£34.99)! I am glad I waited. This USB looks really good and is so small compared to the other low cost "bricks" I have seen. It is a real quality HP product also with good warranty. £13.99 for a 16GB seems unbelievably good to me. Now I can buy 2 for less than I was going to buy 1 :-)

cheers, wanted to get a few more usb sticks :)
nice price for 16GB and a nice size usb as well

Any idea on real world read and write speed?
#4
chances are the £34.99 one would have high write speeds, hence you pay more...

This one is claiming 9 write and 30 read, can anyone verify this?

I once again refer people to my Corsair Voyager 16Gb post @ £17.99 which is 19 write and 33 read if you need something faster

Lovely unit. Mine is for the car stereo as it doesn't stick out much. Also used in laptops where portability counts.

I think the point of this is size of the USB stick the OP posted. Other than the speed.

Yes, really nice. I like the fact it is so small. Hard to accidentaly knock it while in my laptop. The Sandisk one I have at the moment really sticks out!
#10
Would be good for USB ports on DVD players, etc.

Yeh you're right, and for such a small device... great!! Unfortunately though it is sometimes difficult for people to distinguish between a £15 usb stick and a £30 usb stick... if size is the primary focus then yes, get this... but if you're going to be swapping files on and off on a regular basis you may want to consider something faster for not much more :)

I like it, so voted hot but I don't know if I like it with my business information on , because of the size i probably will lose it , but in a usb car stereo it would be ace

SIP Technology? What the hell does that mean on a USB stick? Is there some other SIP technology I am not aware of other than Session Initiation Protocol?

Obviously I want as much speed as possible as well as a small nice looking product, so I have checked. On the HP site the read speed is 25 MB/s. There is no detail about this on the Corsair site strangely, but I found this test which clocks the speed at 21.5 MB/S -
http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/corsair_flash_voyager_32/3.htm
This makes the HP a bit faster! And to be honest a bit nicer looking, so I think my mind is made up. You may be getting confused with the much more expensive GTR Voyager, where there is a claim on the read and write speed. But to be honest, I am storing video and music on my USB's, so 25 MB/s is plenty fast enough.

i believe it is "system in-package", "technology that protects vital components".

I have this and I can confirm that with my XBox 360 Slim, it's not too small, although you will find 'standard' sized USB sticks easier to manage.

Also, voted hot, good price

He's talking about the old 360, with the USB flap on the faceplate.

I would actually prefer a USB that hides behind the USB flap/door. Cleaner look, as long as you can get it back out without having to rip off the faceplate :)

Write speed "up to 9"
Therefore SLOW

surely that would be a good thing?

Perfect..

Got a new car Stereo Fitted yesterday & I keep brushing up against the 8gb Sandisk Cruiser that I have in the front USB slot. This will do nicely, more space for my mp3s & won't stick out so far :-)

Heat added

Unless I've misunderstood something, there's also a USB flap on the faceplate of the new ones.

At any rate, I might have access to an old one later today, and will check to see what happens.

Excellent item. I paid the same for the 8GB and use it for car stereo so it doesnt stick out. Amazing item

Surely if its small enough to shut itself away you'll be able to just poke your fingers through the flap to get to it anyway? I'd prefer the tidiness personally :)

Great price also.

Used to have one of these... lost it. Made by a company called PNY, pretty good for £13.99!

Car radios with a USB socket work really well and must be the standard for the future. Physically large memory sticks however, look awkward and get in the way as they protrude from the radio. This should solve that problem and the price is good. Hot

Good device and excellent price. Very handy for when you need to have a usb stick stuck in a pc that's unobtrusive...

9 Mb per second, so around 2 minutes to write a 1Gb file I would have thought.
