just spoken to a Curry's store - they checked all PC World, Dixons etc...

apparently they are all as new but not new because they sent them all back last week to the warehouse - as stores now only sell Windows 7 laptops. There are 1 or 2 still in store but they are display modles propb not complete to send back.

She advised me to look for something else as there weren't that many in stock - so chances of getting 1 is very slim.
#14
oh and there isn't anymore in the warehouse, or showing as stock anywhere apart from the odd display modle.....

Just been to Yeovil branch, they have a few in they are new too.

HP DV6-1210SA as in 1st post - £239.97 from 479.99 - AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core QL-65
Acer Aspire 7535G ZM-82 - £349.97 from £699.99 - AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM82
Compaq CQ60-420SA - £214.97 from £429.99 - AMD Athlon QL65

Its the usual case of maybe you'll get lucky and find stock, your store may have others.

So what of the above is the best?

Why expired? I just picked one up from Doncaster and they have three Compaq machines left at £224 each. One is even a 17" monster!
You just have to pop in and ask; the manager had no idea and these boxes were already priced up to clear but at nearly £400.
Mine was ex demo but I just checked it and it is perfect in every respect, with 12 month warranty. The AMD version was only released in September anyway so it can't be that old.

Bargain and cheers to OP. This is a lovely machine with plenty of graphics power.

i went to curry's in sheffield they said its a discontinued product and the only one left near by was in PC world in chesterfield and its gonna be a ex display, its to farrrrrr

No, i bought the last one but they had three compaq machines at £225 each. One had intel Dual Core, 4Gb ram and a 17" monitor but I couldn't resist the 512mb Ati 4530 in this for my graphic work (and maybe a few games!)
To be honest, given the look of shock on the managers face, I expected them to disappear into the back room just after I left!

Called Currys megastore in Doncaster earlier today and asked about the Compaq laptop for £214.97 and they said last one had been sold this morning as it was an end of line product. Is this the store you mentioned in your post or is there another? Also, were they desktops or laptops? Thanks
#23
The laptops were in PC World, for around £900 I could have walked out with four decent machines!
The DV-6 has nice graphics though-been playing assassins creed on it today.
