The HTY750 is the same as the YSP500.

Technically, other than the colour that is:

Silver body, black grille (YSP-500)

Black body, silver grille (HTY-750)
thanks for the info!

why is hdmi so important?

In my opinion I don't think it is that important for the audio. As far as I see it if you have an optical audio feed from your DVD or other sources you already have a good quality input source.

HDMI works well for feeding a quality visual output to a HD TV where more traditional sources won't make use of what the TV can provide.

I do not claim to be an expert in this though so feel free to put me straight if you know of a compelling reason I'm unaware of. For example I believe the HDMI 1.3 specification allows better audio connection but don't know enough about it to know if it's that much better than the optical audio feeds mentioned above.

YSP 600 has 2 HDMI ins and 1 out I don't think the YSP 500 has HDMI connectivity as far as I know

I'm waiting for the YSP600 to come down in price- it was £500 in May but has HDMI connectivity and USB I believe

Pretty good spot though none the less- well done

600 for £440.80 at pixmania

Excellent price. My dad ordered one a couple of weeks ago from the earlier thread when they were £280 or so at Digital Direct.

Not set it up yet, but I expect it to be a big improvement over the Sony DAV system he had before. And no wires :D
Anyone recommend what would be the best cable type to use with this ??

Machine voted 5 stars and Best Buy by What Video and HI Def TV magazine:thumbsup:

The bottom end denon products are just repackaged chinese cheapies anyway and aren't a patch on the higher end models for build quality and sound quality.

but not everybody watches DVD's 24-7, no point buying a £500 DVD player if you only watch the odd DVD or downloaded DivX movie.

At £80 your getting a great DVD & CD player for the money

emailed them yesterday, chap from the shop phoned 5 mins ago, told me that it was the LAST one in stock and was an Ex-Display model, I asked him to knock some money off it (due to the fact that it was ex-display) and he said that was the price and that it had'nt been used.

Told him to stick it - avoid at all costs
