Now I realize this is, again, a somewhat special item, BUT I think it may be worth it. Aldi has a high powered blender on sale - online now, in store on the 8th of September, which should do a fairly good job if you're into green smoothies and the likes.
Why do I think this is interesting? A blender with the identical specs is offered on ebay and amazon for around £100 with a "charles jacobs" label and quite decent reviews, however the aldi version is cheaper and comes with 3 years of warranty.
And why not just get 30 quid bog standard model? Well if you like putting spinach, kale or raspberries into your smoothie the difference in texture between a high powered blender and a "simple" one is night and day in my experience, but if you just want to crush some ice or make banana milk, don't waste your money on this.
