I saw this in my local sainsburys... its a 26 piece set in a sturdy plastic container.

All the parts are high quality - the main handle has a decent ratchet and all the sockets require the press of the button on it in order to release them (as all the sockets in this set have a groove in the middle so it can lock in).

Definately worth £3.75.

Doubt it's high quality, but it's cheap and a good start for a DIY beginner. Hot.

Cheap, but not high quality.

I`m sure it`s worth £3.75
High quality-very unlikely
It doesn`t even state what size the drive is
Voted hot anyway

i've spent a few hours over the last couple of days looking for a suitable socket set but with no luck. looking mostly at draper expert and sealey and also halfords professional. this set actually looks to have everything i need! i'd rather avoid buying the cheapest set but i might just do it.

ps. if you can afford it, the £100 150-piece halfords professional set gives you a lifetime guarantee.

Is it chrome vanadium?

I can never get links for Sainsbury's to open to check.

Yes it is.

Just to clear up the reason I said it was high quality... Its not claiming to be a draper set - it is for sale in sainsburys remember! For £3.75 it is stunning quality. I have seen similar kits in homebase for £35 that are no better than this, and as its chrome vanadium, it should be very hard wearing.

I've lost counts of the number of times I've charged off to Sainsburys after seeing deals on here. Never managed to bag one yet! Suppose it's being in the right place at the right time.

Round off a nut on a car somewhere difficult and it wont be a bargain socket set then lol Still for under 4 squid its worth slinging in the back of the boot

.

And I think these are made by Draper - certainly by a top manufacturer anyway and a fantastic set for the money.

For high quality you are best with a ratchet with the minimum number of degrees between clicks, and hexagon, or 'flower' (which works on the flats of what it turns so cannot remove the corners) rather than 12 pointed star holes.

Its also NOT worth getting a set that does metric and imperial - as not many of us knock about in British Leyland cars (unless we own a welder) - and its a complete pain having 50% of your sockets that don't really fit anything.

Looks like it was the last one in that store.

Can't understand why a socket would round off a nut just because it was poor quality. The most likely cause is a numpty using too large a socket not mating with the surfaces properly. I suspect enough force required to make the socket go funnry and start to round off the nut would break the ratchet mechanism in the driver first. like I managed to do with an exhaust manifold nut once.

I dont agree, a bad quality spanner is not a tight fit as a good quality one and thus theres a bit of play which causes the nut to be rounded off, if your working with cars like I have over the years you tend to find most nuts and bolts have lost their strenth due to exposure to the elements. Still a bargain for the price !

I wish more deals for stuff like this would be posted instead of USB this and DVD's !
