Just keep the one you have, the thing with hdmi cables they work or they don't work.

HDMI cables are indifferent to quality. They only transmit 1 and 0, so they either work or don't.

They are the Yoda of cables (Do or do not, there is no try).

A gold (platinum / titanium) plated cable (with or without oxygen) will make no difference.

Buy the cheapest one you can that has the right connecting ends. I found one of mine for 99p.

You can get 1.4 with ethernet HDMI cables now, why buy old cables? :S

Only recent TV's will have HDMI 1.4, and even then, most people aren't even going to make full use of it.

As long as the signal makes it to the end of the cable it can be made of a coat hanger and it will not make the slightest bit of difference to the picture/sound.

WhatHiFi just spout total rubbish, cannot believe they are allowed to get away with it to be honest.

for almost all current usages HDMI 1.3 will suffice.
only need 1.4 for 3D and built in ethernet.

so would get a cheap vers 1.3 now

The cable in the original post is braided, the cheaper ones linked are not. The various hdmi cables will not output a different quality signal, but the cheaper bare ones are prone to getting damaged physically, i.e. wire connections getting damaged if you connect and disconnect them often for example on a games console.

Good deal for a braided hdmi cable.

i have a 1 metre chord company hdmi cable i brought for £60
i have a £1.50 flat hdmi cable i brought from some cheap seller on the bay

i like to think im an audiophile and the wife notices little things in the video.

blind tests with me / wife / sisters / and any one else who ventured into our house proved not a shred of differance

Why? Its a 2 meter cable, not 0.5m/1m/1.8m like most of the cheap cables, its from a recognised shop (not an Amazon marketplace\ebay), its braided - where can you get something similar/same specced cheaper?

They don't 'transmit 1s and 0s' though. They transmit differential voltages. You are correct to say it generally doesn't make any difference whatsoever as the BER over a short distance is usually low enough to be insignificant, but that doesn't mean the signal at the receiving end is identical between any two cables - a higher end cable will generally have a more accurate reproduction of the signal from the transmittion end. More important is the quality of construction - a very cheap cable is generally more likely to get damaged than an expensive, well constructed cable; whether it is worth paying a premium for a short run is questionable though...
