the monitor u are talking about is called the s2409w and its around £200-240 online now. It has a viewing angle of 160° / 170° and the monitor on this post (sp2309w) is 160° / 170° aswell so their is no difference with viewing angle but there is a difference with CR, more features and a better resolution.

hope i helped, plz keep voting this post HOT!! its a great deal and everyone should know about it!
#10
I have the s2409w monitor myself and find the build quality great and the viewing angle hasn't been a problem in normal usage, if I didn't have that monitor I would be very keen on this one, good webcam built in too! H & R added.
#11
Guys, seriously! THROW YOUR OLD MONITORS AWAY AND GET THIS ONE!!!

I'm getting two. It would have been 4 but credit crunch...

There's no way you can match this spec at this price!
#12
Please don't tempt me lol!
#13
Thats an excellent deal, i really want that!

Now my 24" 1920x1200 screen seems so old!!

Heat added

I think that "HD" is just a buzzword we use now because we're used to lower definition. There is no real high definition, just varying levels of resolution.
#15
Err, I probably need to build a power plant in the house if I was to power that on.:w00t:

65w ?

Wouldn't recommend this monitor over others for day to day use ...
#18
I actually switched back to a lower native res monitor recently as text was coming out too small even with scaling applied.

High res monitors def. have their drawbacks.
#19
bloomin heck! nice looking monitor and price/spec :)

hot!

(anyone lend erm give me £200?)
#20
Nice monitor but it's been at this price for ages. :?
#21
4% quidco too, bringing it down to 203.18

#22
Shame about the glossy screen. I LOVE high pixel density screens :)
#23
Would you need a top speck graphics card to see the benifits of upgrading to this monitor?
#24

thanks for direct link ,always more useful than just deal going to dell homepage! maybe a mod can edit

Dont forget quidco!
#25
must....not.....buy.....

what are the usb ports used for?
#26
This is not really "better than Full HD" as such.

This is a 16:10 panel rather than a 16:9 panel

A 16:9 panel will be 1920x1080 (ie what we have come to know as Full HD) and a 16:10 panel will be 2048 x 1152

However for the price this is a great panel.
#27
Good price but the Truelife will give a lot of glare.
#28
Cracking deal, makes me reget getting my 2409w 2 months ago :(

Check that your graphics card supports this resolution. Many onboard and old cards wont support this resolution. Just looked and my old Nvidea 6200 card only supports upto 1650x1050 (not that I use it).

Looks like the dogs nuts great design great panel and i want to buy one, but mrs Bob would kill my ass.
Must resist........ must resist........must resist.......
#31
I agree with the other comments that the gloss screen will have an element of glare from surrounding lights etc...However still a great price.....very tempted....

Anyone got an old dell 24" tft that they want to sell cheap?

Probably a silly question but I'm not too hot with these kinds of things, would a xbox360 work on this as it has a hdmi port on it, or is it strictly for PCs?

for whatever you like

You plug a USB from monitor to PC to use the webcam but it also has USB connectors at the side which is very convenient imo.

Should work with Xbox 360 through HDMI. But dont forget about the sound you can either buy the soudbar for the monitor or buy extra speakers and follow tutorials on using the original component cable.

Looks like a great monitor - even has a big cup holder on the front:)

16:10 would be 1920x1200. 2048 x 1152 is indeed a 16:9 resolution.

For games, yes, but for general usage no. A higher resolution display will give you more room on screen to work with, meaning you don't need to have windows maximised. Allows you to have more things on screen at once, which is very handy. For example, right now I've got my internet browser open, my Live Messenger windows next to it, and my Winamp media player along the top (and that's with a 1680x1050 monitor).

Incorrect, this is 16:9.

2048/1152 = 1.777777777777777
16/9 = 1.7777777777

"Full HD" is a marketing term. 1920x1080 is 1080p, 3840x2160 is the next one up ("2160p"). Good deal, but "HIGHER THAN HD 23'' MONITOR" sounds like an eBay style marketing wash...:)

I think you will you find (if you get your calculator out) that both 1920/1080 and 2048/1152 are 16:9 ratio as opposed to 1920/1200 which is 16:10
p.s this is my first pedantic post, but it had to start sometime!

From what I have read elsewhere this panel is made by Samsung, they market a similar spec unit with their own branding.

This model does not appear to have the premiun no dead pixel warranty but it does have a 3 year exchange.

so is it just a hub? so you would have a usb cable running from the tower to the monitors 4 port hub? (plug in keyboard or whatever and not have to dive under the desk to reach the usb ports?)
