Has anyone seen that film where Darth Vader goes NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! for ages and it's a rubbish film, well that's the description for this deal. Please stop it.

Lord Vader: What have you done with that copy and paste?

Not bad for a big 4k set. Won't do hdr properly but what you expect for under a grand.

I expect Jesus in HDR and God to be in 8K but we can't have everything so I've become a pagan for a day. To be honest I'm loving pagan 8K it's righteous beyond belief.

I paid £799 for the sliver JL 5 year warranty version.

A new brand for me, so worth having the warranty.

Playing it one thing, the screen capable of displaying it in full is another? I can play a 4K HDR video through a 1080p screen too.

Yes you would. I can tell how much better the colours are on my projector over my led tv, which itself was probably the best 1080p TV Samsung ever made prior to oled.

I wonder when I will be able to get a HDR10 TV over 55inchea for under a grand.

Isn't the MR7000 by hisense 10 bit and under a grand?

this is for a tv not a projector its £700 it plays hdr its 65 inch its worth £700 all day long my first projector cost more than triple that in the 90s talk about tvs around this mark

Utter nonsense,my LG oled 4k HDR TV is only capable of just under 500 nits but blows away any led quantum dot or any other TV as you do not need 1000 nits plus for full spectrum HDR.Ask any certified THX calibrator and they will tell you the same.

It's a decent price given the size of the screen, but for me it's the quality versus quantity argument and where you derive value from.

For me I want a quality set with proper 10 bit capability if I'm to bother upgrading from 1080P. I'm not interested in watching 720P (or less) broadcast stretched across a 65" screen, until my SkyQ starts displaying an abundance of 4K content its useless, most of the stuff on live TV is still sub-HD and no downscaling in the world is going to clean up that image quality.

Regardless of pixel brightness, this won't display the full HDR range. It's never going to look as good as the medium can offer.

If you look at the Ultra HD Premium spec for HDR, OLED TVs are actually allowed a lower peak nits rating, because they are able to go darker than LED TVs. I can't remember what that figure was exactly though. This Hisense isn't a 10bit panel though, so it's irrelevant. As others have said, it won't display HDR properly. Sure it'll take the signal in and then display an image, but as it's only an 8bit panel it isn't capable of showing the full colour spectrum of 10bit HDR. 8bit panels claiming HDR is the "HD ready" of 2016. Just another way to confuse the consumer.

As for somebody asking for a HDR10 TV over 55" for under a grand, I just ordered the Samsung UE55KS7000. HDR10, 55" and currently available at £899 in the boxing day sales.
