This is supposed to be a fantastic set!!!

This documentary miniseries combines astronomy and history as it presents man's continual quest to explore the outermost reaches of the universe. Satisfyingly realistic computer reconstructions allow viewers to go inside our sun, skirt the event horizon of a black hole, and travel to the deepest reaches of space, all while giving considered attention to the age-old question: are we alone in the universe, or is there life on other planets?

whats the total run time?
#3
540 minutes or 9 hours.
#4
Less than 70mins per disc? Oh, right. They could have fitted it on 4 discs imo.

Hot deal. They also have the 3 disc version for the same price if you want fewer discs :)

On the downside it is 4:3 and stereo only.

This series is currently in its 3rd season - does anyone know if this box set covers all seasons or just the 1st?

It doesnt even cover the 1st season (its missing the last 2 episodes)!!! I had ordered, but Im gonna cancel now since its not even complete. Also the transfer is very poor - its presented in 4:3 letterbox rather than true widescreen losing alot of definition, also the soundmix is all over the place. Shame i really like the progamme - guess ill stick with DIVX. Or import the 4 disc US version, which is complete !!!!

Sorry OP, but Im voting COLD for this reason. Im sick of us in the UK getting ripped off paying more and getting less than our US counterparts. I had to return 2 blurays last week to ASDA cause i accidently read the US region reviews beforehand and the UK releases was vastly inferior (Starship Troopers and FaceOff).

yep - have to agree....got these downloaded - all of season 1 and 2, plus several episodes in season 3.

Don't get me wrong - they are very good - but to advertise this as season 1 - when it is not complete is misleading. There were ~ 18 or so episodes in season 1.

Even though I have these downloaded - would have been tempted to buy if it were the complete season.

Voted cold for this reason only.

Nearly bought until I saw the posts above.

Why would they decide not to include all 18 episodes but then unecessarily use 7 Disks? Makes no sense.

To make people think they are getting a worthwhile boxset. Its funny how some discs have 1 episode whilst others have 2. Why didnt they go the full hog and make this a 12 disc boxset ?!?!?

The reason given for not including the last two episodes is the same one they always use for inferior incomplete UK versions ... 'licensing issues' :?

My guess is that when it came to making the PAL version, they lost the master discs down the back of the sofa and they couldnt be bothered to look for them. They probably figured us ignorant Brits wouldnt realise, cause even these 'documentaries for dummies' style programs are far too complicated for us to understand anyway LOL

If it's so bad, why do people keep adding to the deal's temp. Do they not read the complete thread?:?

This should be a very chilly deal by now.

Having read the above I've just cancelled my order. What a con!

I guess they are voting purely from the front page without reading any comments. Full list of episodes : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1051155/episodes#season-1

Exactly my earlier point. Far too many discs for the included content. Clearly designed to mislead.

Add another disappointed "nearly" buyer!!!

Thanks for the comments guys - what a strange release!!
