Hitachi 1TB Touro MX3 Portable Hard Drive USB3.0 @ ebuyer £67.98

No1_DaveNo1_Dave

missed out on the Toshiba 1TB Portable from Play a few days ago, been on the look out for another drive, and ebuyer just have this back on offer, seems to be the best priced 1TB USB3.0 Portable just now.

and yes this is a 2.5" USB powered Portable HDD, so NO separate power supply required.

yeah checked it earlier, would probably have ordered from amazon myself, but they're OOS at the moment (Usually dispatched within 2 - 4 weeks, sometimes they move forward the dates but sometimes even more delay), need to use it in a week myself, so went for the in stock ebuyer deal.

From experience if both amazon & ebuyer are in stock, and if you choose Free delivery both would take similar time for delivery, e.g. within a week.

If one doesn't have USB2.0 will it still be enough to power this drive? I know USB3.0 will work in 2.0 but as this doesn't have a separate power supply I'm wondering. *heads off to google :p

Good price. Wish portable USB drives would drop to the "pre flood" prices though.

Used to be able to get this size for under £50

Not USB 3 - but then we haven't got any USB 3 ports!

Does anyone know what cable this uses? I have one, it's great by the way but I have no idea what cable it uses incase I lose it.

Anyone know if you can pull the HDD out of these?

I want a 1TB internal drive for my MacBook - but 1TB 2.5" Sata drives are about £15 more. Crazy.

Looks like its a standard USB 3.0 cable. Not these Y-USB cables. Reviews claims cable length is around 30cm, thick cable but poor connectors + 2 year warranty.

But what I like to know what's inside it. SATA/mini USB PCB? 9.5mm/12.5mm? Anyone care to carefully open one up to share the details?

Description: Touro Mobile MX3 Black 1000GB EMEA
    Model Number: HTOLMX3EA10001ABB
    SKU: 0S03457
    UPC: 705487189087

Update: Dimensions: 80mm (W) x 126mm (H) x 15mm (D). I suspect that the height 126mm is a indicator that this HD comes with SATA-mini USB adaptor that can be removed but then could be the extra size casing taking up more space. Really need someone who has one to verify this.

I assume you mean "if one doesn't have usb 3.0?" It should be fine running on a single usb 2 port, (mine does) if not just get a 'Y' extension cable off Ebay

So is this USB or Sata/USB? What is the funny looking connector in the photo?

It isn't a standard mini USB, it's the photo that's chapsuk had posted.

I have no idea what kind of connection it is.

That's a standard micro usb3 port. You can also use a micro usb2 cable if you plug it in on the right hand side of the port
