I ordered one earlier today when it was shown as 1TB on the main picture and 1.5TB in the description. Rang them up because it said £65.99 (plus delivery) on the main page and £69.99 when I put it into my basket. I asked them to put the website right as it was confusing, and they've now confirmed that it's 1.5TB. They also refunded me £4.

Hot if it's 1.5TB!

Has anyone have any first hand experience of these, as I have seen many comment on that Hitachi drives are slow and not so great. I guess the 5400 rpm access speed is downside. Can you imagine having this drive full with data and trying to use it with this access speed, its bad enough on 500mb let alone 1.5gb. Any comments would be handy, I do like the price.

sounds hot to me even if a bit slow

When I rang them up, I asked whether it was 1TB or 1.5TB as people wouldn't be fussed if they ordered a 1TB and a 1.5TB turned up but they'd be p***ed if it was the other way round. He said he thought it might be 1.5TB as they'd "just had a load in" but he'd get them to change the website to what it should be. They've now changed the main pictures to correspond with the description so I'm assuming that they're 1.5TB.

Edit: They've also changed my order to show it as a 1.5TB. The price is still shown as £69.99 but they've credited me with a £4 voucher valid for 12 months.

I've been googling 'Hitachi 1.5TB external' and can't find any other supplier that does such a drive. I am wondering if they actually exist. The RRP of the 1TB on play.com is £99.99 so it doesn't make sense that the RRP of a 1.5TB one is simialr.
#8
The drive is a SimpleDrive made by Simpletech (part of Hitachi worlwide) see here
They don't list a 1.5tb, but it's quite likely the products are ahead of the web-site.

Hot for 1.5tb
#9
Excellent for 1.5TB. I've ordered one - they can have it back if it's only 1TB
#10
Hitachi don't make a 1.5tb internal drive according to the official website and I can't see them using anyone elses in a external unit

don't forget extra 5% cashback from Quidco

#14

Cdiscount are crap when it comes to stock, they hold only a little amount
#15

this a absolute bargain for a 1.5TB HDD, especially with discounts and quidco

im very tempted though i have 2.5TBs in my PC already
#17
The description has now changed to 1tb :whistling:
#18
There is no such thing as a Hitachi 1.5TB Simpledrive. Hitachi does not make one. Seeing as the description has now changed to 1TB, I don't know what will happen to people who bought it thinking it was a 1.5TB drive.

what a con, typical cdiscount
That company gets worse and worse
#20
This would have made it 4.6 pence per gig, cheapest per gig storage price available anywhere.

I'm at a loss as to just how Cdiscount could get this so wrong after I rang them and explained it to them at 4pm today. Their system doesn't even allow me to cancel the order online. I bet they were all too busy putting their cash on Roddick beating Murray. :x

Yeah - not your fault - Just wish there was some waty to punishng CD for messing up - they're not the only ones - online retailers seem to think they can write what lies they like in product descriptions and when they mess up it's the customer who has the hassle of arranging returns etc. :x

Thanks very much for your intelligent input. It must have taken you a long time to string more than ten words together. ;-)

Actually it's still a pretty good price even if it's only 1TB

Phoned them up today and cancelled the order. Luckily for me, ebuyer's Ebay deal of the day is a Seagate
1TB for £54.99 delivered. Thanks to MSE for saving me about £12.

Just to let you know that despite me cancelling the order using their online form on Saturday morning, and me also ringing them up on Saturday afternoon and checking that it had been cancelled, the *******s have still taken my money and despatched the bloody thing tonight. Useless tossers. I hope they haven't done the same to any of you who ordered one. They'll be getting a call off me in the morning. Plucking Bankers.
