From reading reveiws and my own personal experiece over 4 years of using Hitachi drives, Hitachi hard drives really are the business. This 1TB drive is a great price, less than 10p per GB and free delivery from Amazon.

I've added an image and I've added a price and retailer name to the thread title. Thanks.

PC Pro magazine's latest issue, which hit the newsstands in the last few days, has a comprehensive hard-disk review AND as they made a printing error they've put it online available for download at
http://movies.itpro.co.uk/pcpro/labs/166/166harddisks.pdf

The PDF is 9 pages, 5MB in size and compares about 20 drives including a few Hitachi, as most people will have guessed it's the Samsung F1 model that triumps.

Gonna have a read of that, cheers.

Typically i bought a Sammy 1tb and had nothing but errors and problems for 2 weeks so tried a reformat before it totally gave up the ghost so sent back for a refund .. on testing the supplier authorised a refund straight away. I'd also read the 3 platters at around 340GB each could be a source of some problems ?? Personally not sure on this though.

So hopefully your pdf might point me in the right direction of a replacement.
