contrast ratio is meaningless, but you're a clown if you buy this TV when good ones are avilable for 3 ton

it could be, but I've a feeling that 'hitachi' logo is in silver/chrome, rather than white ;)

what's on it??, nowt, it's too slim to rest a plant pot / toy / model / trnket box / or anything else on top of.

Not sure about this. There was a fairly decent 32 the other day for £299.99 on Amazon (It was a Toshiba if memory serves).

EDIT: sanjay397, in the above post found the tele I was talking about

After the last CRAP CRT TV I bought was Hitachi, it will be a cold day in hell before I buy another item from them!

I know this might sound a bit harsh, but your average ARGOS TV purchaser probably doesn't know a great deal about TV's so I wouldn't pay to much attention to the reviews.
I'm always amazed by the amount of people's houses I go in to that have an LCD TV with a horrible picture quality (more often than not its fuzzy). It would drive me mad looking at a screen that didn't look spot on.

do you honestly believe they put every review online?

if they have a large amount of an item in stock or on offer to shift, they are hardly going to leave a load of poor reviews on their site :whistling:

For those in the know, where could the OP get a better TV for their budget of around £270.
To call the OP a clown for buying it, is of no help to them, but an alternative purchase recommendation could have been.

Also I hate looking at a picture on the wrong aspect ratio. It has to be bars either side of the screen for me instead of stretched heads lol

a few people suggesting this isn't a very good deal so I ask again if those people can direct me to a better tv for the price as i still have time to return this......

I don't know much about TV's and all this HD bore racks, but I do know I only have access to one HD channel at the moment on Virgin. So why all the fuss about this and that ? It's a TV its a known brand and it's cheap !
What more do you need to know ?

Surely you don't start comparing a £271 TV to ones costing over £300 and expecting it to be better?

How does this compare to the Samsung 32in LE32A457C1DX HD?

I bought the Samsung from Argos when it had £50 off and the same half price stand (-£58.69).

I haven't set it up yet as the stand was damaged and I am waiting for a new one. I was wondering whether to return both & re-order this package?

I did get my b/f at the time's approval as he had the same TV.

I've just bought a Wii bundle as well & hate scarts but to all you tekkies out there pondering my TV spec query, may I ask do I need one of these bargains:

Thanks.

Agreed,
The Hitachi from argos is rubbish, the model number is 32ld30u and the instructions have Home Retail Group address on the back. As I live in Milton Keynes I know this is a argos building. Turns out this tele isn't made by Hitachi just a cheap tele from argos with a Hitachi Badge on it.

Hitachi havn't actually made any TV sets themselves for a few years now, they are mainly just re-badged cheap stuff, from Vestel in Turkey.

Too true - I made the mistake of buying one! My last Hitachi CRT tv was appalling - it was just out of the standard warranty when it clapped out, and Allders with whom I had a 5 year warranty had just went bust weeks before :-(
