Hot Deal.

I'm no expert but the spec of this TV seems decent too, you can't complain at less that £8 per Inch!

:)

My Hitachi LCD has just died, only one month outside the one year guarantee ! I doubt if I would buy again ! It will probably be mentioned that the Hitachi TV brand is used by Vestel who produce budget electonics under various brands some currently exclusive to Argos.

I think it has been discussed on HD before that the Hitachi tv brand is now used exclusively by Argos, ie. it sounds like a quality name (it used to be) but isn't these days. It sounds like a lot of telly for the money but I think it's worth spending more on a better brand.

Not so hot

Sorry cold, explained by my usual HUKD matrix:

decent brand - no
decent specs - no
decent discount - check
value for money - no
heat added - no

Think you'd be better spending a little extra and get a more reputable brand with better performance.

I'm all for getting bargains, even if they aren't the biggest brands.
But you really need to avoid this crap, it will only lead to disapointment, even at that price.

If poo was 10p and you couldn't get cheaper anywhere else, would that make a good deal?

When someone posted Monster HDMI cables for £15.99 from 7dayshop.com that was voted cold because people could get crappy £1 HDMI cables in Poundland. No-one could find cheaper Monster HDMI cables yet that deal went freezing cold.

Thus I think that deals are voted on based on peoples perceived value for money.

Also at least I give my reasoning if I vote cold, others don't bother, but is my opinion and as I am not God my opinion isn't definitive!

Anything Hitachi is crap these days - they sold the brand name, so anyone who pays a fee can put it on a product.

Agreed. I'm a massive Sony fan, excellent TV's as long as you cherry pick carefully from one of their high end ranges, however for those on a budget surely for an extra £50, the LG deal below is better value for money?

£329.99 for a Hitachi? No thanks. Waste of money on junk. BETTER SAMSUNG DEAL HERE

It annoys me when people think a deal is hot solely because it can't be found cheaper elsewhere.
#21
The fact is that you will not find Hitachi tv's anywhere but Argos these days, so you can't look for it cheaper elsewhere. I tend to vote based on value for money - I don't think this is.
#22
My Brother has an Hitachi (Argos Special) and has had it for a couple of years now and it is a perfectly servicable TV. It is a lot better than my 5 year old Dual (Asda Special). This is a lot of TV for the money so as far as I am concerned hot. Having said that I would not buy it. My next TV is going to be a much better brand (Sony).

Crap is always cheap.
Quality is worth paying a bit more for.
A Turkey made in Turkey?
#26
I had a Tech"no"sonic, made in Turkey, mine had smoke coming out the back. Refund from Woolworths.
Also had a 47" Wharfedale (Turkey made) and it started making wining noises, the Freeview tuner stopped working after Freeview did an upgrade and the PC stopped working with it.

TV taken away for repair, told by Argos they couldn't get spare parts so got a refund.

european law dictates you must have a two year warranty with all items purchased new ! your tv is still in warranty
