50 or 100Hz???

50 or 100Hz???

50Hz
#4
100Hz is overrated (I switched my TV from 100Hz to 50Hz as I didn't like the odd 'sped up' effect it gives the image).
This TV is well worth the money.
#5
Is this contrast ratio really only 1300:1? Surely that's a mistake?
#6
Tempted, very tempted.

Just picked one of these TV's up from Argos today. Been searching for a budget TV for a while and this one punches above it's price tag by ten fold. It's got a brilliant picture quality through my PS3 Blu ray player and the game's look fantastic. Grab one while you can.

#9
Definitely worth the money don't get me wrong but it's a bit ugly! Loads of black around the edge kind of takes away from the screen.

I'd probably buy it, especially as it's 1080p but I've just bought a 42" Samsung plasma for £450 with a free £80 stand and it's amazing so I'd shop around.
#10
Where d'ya get the plasma from ?
I've got one of these reserved but would prefer a plasma.

Been looking but found nothing at this price !!
#11
I have this this tele and its very good i payed under £400 for it when it was down in price before, people go on about the contrast of this tv of 1.300 don't worry about that i have looked at tvs with the same set up as mine on it with a higher contrast on it and there is not much in it, this is a great tv for the price :)

That's the TRUE contrast ratio, not the often meaningless 'dynamic' contrast ratio the bigger name brands stick on their TV's (they also have a true contrast ratio, but they rarely put it in the specs). One of my brothers has a cheap 42" wih only 1200:1, but the image quaility is amazing.

Don't like the idea of playing ps3 on a 5ms response rate tv! :whistling:

lol.. 5ms is about the average. It'll be the least of your worried in a game.

Don't suppose Argos do a 'Buy now worry about it next year 0% apr' type finance do they..
#17
Will this be like many LCD's, great for games and maybe DVD, but poor on standard TV broadcasts?

I guess you could put it on a cc for 12 months or so and pay it that way like some people do :)

Is this not a better offer? Granted I have never heard of the website, so could not vouch for their reputation...

I'm thinking about buying this TV but after my last LCD developed a fault just outside of warranty can anyone recommend a good place / method of buying a decent extended warranty?

John Lewis, free 5 year warranty. might pay a bit more but you have 5 year peace of mind. My LCD is ******ed just outside of warranty too. :x

It would be worth asking what their 'Dead Pixel' Policy is.

I had to take CURRYS to court over a dead pixel, they refused to repair or replace (the TV was 3 weeks old!) ... I won the case, but I would aviod the hassle if at all possible.

HITACHI is not the standard it was in the 70's ..... much more now in the BUSH/ALBA bracket, sadly.

So, just stop and ask yourself if you would rather pay a few £££££ more for a better 'name' and probably a better quality picture? remember, a TV is for watching! That picture has to be as perfect as money will allow - do not compromise for a few pounds.

I agree, it seems like a great price for a very decent big 1080p LCD. Hot from me! Sorely tempted to pick one of these up to replace my 32" 720p...

oh dear i'll clear this up for you if you look closely it says NOT AVAILABLE FOR DELIVERY

so who is looking a little silly now and only 4 posts in as well

This seems like a good deal. 1080p and above 40 inches. Any TV with under 10ms response time shouldn't have any ghost images so this should be fine for 360/PS3. Voted hot.

I guess you could order this one instead if you wanted to wait 21 days. They look identical to me.

I'm looking for a good tv and happy to spend a bit more. Sounds like you know what you're talking about so could you post a link to a slightly more expensive and much better one.
Thanks

If I was after a 42" with 1080P in this price range I would definitely go with the Toshiba Regza 42AV635DB over this Hitachi.

joeUK may I ask you please, have you ever seen or used the Hitachi or Toshiba? :whistling:
