Bought this when it was £400 bloody good tele, don't let the contrast ratio put you off hd and blu rays looks great through it, and i've looked at other tvs with the same set up and cost more and there is not much in it :)

Don't expect too much.

Hitachi is not the brand it used to be in TVs.
My last CRT model was utter crap, and that was at the tail end of the time it was still a proper TV manufacturer, and now it seems to have fallen further and become a bit of an Argos & Comet-only brand here in the UK (see how few other retailers sell them now!)
The web site claims John Lewis sell them.... but when you look at JL's web site... they don't!

Reviews on Hitachi here: http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews84068.html where the one good review is a CRT one!

Did I say it was?

Does that in some way make them incapable of producing a bad LCD TV?

Thing is there is nothing wrong with this tele, and you say don't expect too much :whistling:

This was £400 not long ago. I know because it bought one. Great TV. Just like to say though Argos are known to rise TV prices in run up to christmas, come boxing day the prices are slashed!
#9
In a recent Which review it comes up as having great sound put rather poor picture quality.

Really have to disagree. Xbox 360 looks stunning on this TV. Better Picture than my £550 LG downstairs.

I bought the 32inch model http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5294529/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7CHome+entertainment+and+sat+nav%7C14419512/c_2/3%7C15701169%7CTelevisions%7C14419667/c_3/4%7Ccat_14419667%7C32+inch+LCD+TVs%7C14419678.htm for only £271 which is a £100 off the usual price and it's an absolutely fantastic tv and one of the best bargains i've ever bought. Hitachi have always served me well to be honest.

i also bought the 32 inch model i can't fault it

Thank you

Got this TV. Standard definition is pretty awful but we paid £400 for it so no complaints really. I've heard HD is a lot better then SD on this TV.

Isn't HD always better than SD though? :whistling:

Btw, showing 529£ for me... there's a KDL40W4500 in Richer sounds clearance for £499 which is much better imho :)

Got that for Ł429 (+ I got Ł10 voucher) over a month ago. Great TV for the price, have 1080p full HD digital satellite receiver connected through HDMI + home cinema (DVD) HDMI as well - brilliant picture quality and great sound. Maybe It's not Philips with ambilight, but the price is half of it.
BTW: Hitachi is one of the 5 leading LCD screens manufacturers in the world, togeter with Sharp, Sony, Samsung and Panasonic, so don't tell me that they're not in TVs anymore:roll:

So where are they?

Argos & Comet sell a few models...... odds and ends can be found elsewhere, while all the others you mention are in every retailer online and instore - everywhere!

Or is is more a case of "Eat crap, 9 billion flies can't be wrong?"

To use the argument of a previous poster here:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/548143/hitachi-42ldf30u-full-hd-digital-lc/showpost.php?p=7138815&postcount=6

where he makes the point:
"But this is not a crt http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/548143/hitachi-42ldf30u-full-hd-digital-lc/../images/smilies/whistling2.gif "

then:
But this is not a plasma :whistling:

The argument can't run both ways!

Frankly I am not at all bothered, as I won't be buying another Hitachi, & as previous posters have mentioned, it's not like this has a good picture anyway!

They mainly make screens for other brands. Stores in UK don't have Hitachi in offer because people here trust 4-5 brands like LG, Panasonic, Sony etc. so they don't buy things like Hitachi - it's closed circle. I have had Hitachi stereo system when LG didn't even exist :).
Hitachi had invited first video camera with hard disc (1999), first DVD video camera (2001) and hybrid DVD+HDD camera (2006). In 2007 they released first Blu-ray camera etc. so please, don't compare this company to 'brands' like Acoustic Solutions or Alba :]

I think that was the point I made... Hitachi WERE a top TV brand.
The reason I bought Hitachi. It's not the brand it once was.
#22
These are now 539.99. Snooze and you loose. Thanks OP

Reserved one last night, what do you think are the odds of them letting me have it for last nights price.

Clicking on your profile it seems you like going around rubbishing other peoples deals. I saw this tv in store this morning and it was a cracking picture and looked a great tv but obviously you know better.

Well that's the difference between you and me then - I don't need to go looking at your profile to see what a great help you are on this site, nor would I, as I am interested in discussing the deals on this site, not the people, so I don't go hunting around to find supposed ammunition to make personal attacks.

Oddly enough though, as my reputation shows, it must make my activities at rubbishing deals much more popular than your activities of rubbishing people.

Ordinarily I would just put you on ignore, but seeing as it wouldn't make a lot of difference, I won't even bother.

You have to feel sorry for the guy, he has nothing better to do.......It's the highlight of his day if he gets you to 'bite' and engage in an argument.
Just ignore his comments and accept the fact you will almost certainly help someone out and save them some money - which is what the site is about!

OBVIOUSLY you are bothered - quite considerably so after posting 80% of the comments in this thread.
