Still in stock for 'home delivery' - unexpired :)

Brilliant! Reserved one earlier at Argos for collection tomorrow.
Won't be turning up for it and Homebase now delivering it Wednesday.
Stupid really as it's the same company.
Thanks!
#6
seriously tempted. Realise that you get what you paid for but is Hitachi all that bad?

Could you pleaes expand? Tempted into buying one. Good budget price but your post suggests that it might be a bad idea:?

If anyone has a WHICH subscription then they have just reviewed this TV.
#9
Thanks OP - that's a great price!
#10
many happy punters on Argos. At this price it's a steal, even if not the most sophisticated TV.
#11
Well bit the bullet and ordered it to be delivered on the 31st. Comes to exactly £345.79 with the code and delivery so i don't think i could have gotten this spec tv for near that amount (i just know that theres going to be a better one posted up in half an hour). Cheers op heat n rep added.

don;t forget 1% quidco - (oh and nectar points too) - every little helps

I really really don't need this but it's so incredibly cheap that I almost cannot resist the urge to buy and use it as a Monitor in the bedroom and for gaming.... sorely tempted. Was worried about stock levels but argos now have it back in stock for home delivery so guessing they will be able to honour it...
#13
plus delivery only £5.80??

Just Bought One ... Thanks

It is not accepting the code "Sale15", see below, and so the price is £399, a shame...

"Sorry, [SALE15] is not a valid promotion code on this order. The promotion may have ended, require a minimum spend or only apply to selected products. Please enter a different code or complete your card details and click the 'continue' button to place your order."

Anyone know what wattage it uses?.The descripton only gives the standby 0.96 watt
#25
can i use staff discount on this to get a further 20% off
#26
This television is garbage, even if it was half the price i would not recommend it ... =( COLD based on basically throwing money in the bin.
#27
It may just be me being thick (it usually is!)
But I cant find the telly when I go through to the site via Topcashback:?.
I've tried searching for it and it comes up with nothing. Any tips or ideas?

December 2009 Which Report

This affordable 42-inch full-HD LCD from Hitachi is sold exclusively in Argos. It isn't going to win any awards, but it does pack a surprise or two. Sound quality is a cut above the rest and power consumption is relatively low. It's a pity it's let down by the so-so picture and is tricky to use.

In our tests on sound quality, we found this TV is well above the standard we've come to expect recently. According to our experts it sounds open and clear, delivers plenty of detail, and though a little unrefined, was enjoyable to listen to. Unfortunately, the same quality isn't reproduced on screen. The picture is average at best.

The biggest problem is colour reproduction. In standard definition, colours look slightly inaccurate and give the picture a sepia-toned feel. Freeview has a slightly green/yellow tone, and our eagle-eyed viewers spotted some unsubtle changes in the brightness of the backlight (this illuminates the screen and should change brightness without being noticeable). High-definition pictures look OK, but, compared with the pictures on our Best Buys, suffer from some loss of black detail, colour inaccuracies and an overly dull look.

Ease of use is not this TV's strong point. The remote is crammed with lots of small, poorly labelled and illogically arranged buttons, and the on-screen menus come in two different (confusing) styles.

It isn't bursting with extras, but should have enough sockets for most people. It has two Scarts (though only one supports the best RGB video signal), two high-definition HDMI sockets, and sockets for connecting the TV to a hi-fi or surround-sound system (both optical and coaxial outputs are included). There's a headphone socket, but it's tricky to get to, and a VGA port for connecting the TV to a computer. The TV doesn't have or DNLA connections, but for this price we wouldn't expect it to.

The automatic volume control keeps the volume constant across programmes and adverts (sound quality is altered only slightly). The TV has audio description (an additional narrative for the visually impaired).

Power consumption is relatively low. It uses 113 watts when on and switches into standby if it doesn't detect a signal (from the aerial or a DVD player, say). It has a 'hard off' switch (unlike 'soft off' switches this doesn't use any power when the TV is switched off) but doesn't have a light sensor or screen blanking.

Pros: Relatively low power use, sound is surprisingly good

Cons: Colour inaccuracies, tricky to use, lacks advanced features

Reviewed price was £550

Picked one of these up from my local Argos, and im actually quite surprised!.
The picture on standard Virgin is quite poor but hook a 360 using HDMI at 1080p and it transforms the set, the sound is really good and perfect for a second set or a gaming set.

Might seem a bit daft but is it not lower case sensitive? Try typing in Sale15. Failing that i'm stumped

Thanks... it did in fact accept the code at the total price but before that it was saying it didn't accept it... weird!!!

Ordered, but wont be surprised if I don't get it. I consider the Which review good considering we are potentially getting this for sub 350. Heat added!
