Hitachi 4TB External Hard Drive USB 3.0 £178.19 @ Kikatek.com
I have been after a 4TB drive and this seems about the cheapest on offer. I haven't dealt with Kikatek before but they get great reviews so would love some feedback from HUKD peeps.
If anyone has other suggestions for a better drive then £200 would be about the limit. It will be for storing photos as I am a photographer and now require another backup source.

but that's just me.
(got 2x 2TB Toshiba Alu2)
You've doubled your chances of having a single drive failure. In JBOD you've doubled your chances of losing half your data. In RAID 0 you've doubled your chances of losing ALL your data.
And if you're using RAID 1 then you only have 2TB of space in which case it is completely irrelevant to this thread anyway.
Well done.
look, I know what I'm doing and why I got 2x2TB. your comment is irrelevant.
Look, I know what I'm doing and why you're comment isn't a one size fits all for everyone else and others have different needs. So your comment is irrelevent.
You should have posted that message somewhere in your brain, because it was no help for anyone except you.
And thank you for your helpful post. I presume you're not that rude in real life

For added peace of mind I would recommend a NAS solution using a RAID configuration as this has redundancy built-in and so is more reliable but would be more expensive.
See this link to Wikipedia for NAS drives - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network-attached_storage
and this link for details about RAID - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAID
Also with most NAS solutions, the files are available anywhere via the internet; that can be a great for sharing photos and videos with friends and family.

this is 4TB single drive.
and if you used brain, even common sense would tell you that if this drive with enclosure on top weights 970g and 1 single HDD weights about 650g alone, it doesn't add up. detto with the width of enclosure.

However, the true test is when you buy something that doesn't work and have to return it. This is where the likes of Aria completely fail, as they go out of they way to make it as difficult as possible to return a faulty item.
These days I order mostly from Scan and Dabs, as I've experienced their return procedures and can't fault either of them.
