Does anybody here own one of these? What's the interface like? I assume it has a fan - is it loud and always on?

I'm scared of spending money on something that has all these features but makes it really painful to use them. We used to own a cheap DVR that had a completely numpty menu system and a whirry fan that drove us to chucking it in the bin.

Tell us where to buy (or where you have seen it). I can't see it online. Is this a "one-off", manager's special or what?

Which Clearance Bargains store was this at please?

why expired?

I saw them at the Walsall Clearance Bargains and there was a lot of stock. There are plenty of reviews on the Argos site for those with questions about noise etc. Argos link here http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5321791.htm

Read the opening post and it clearly tells you where to get it from, it's also in the heading.

There's usually quite a few of these in the Corby branch - bought a couple last year for gf/mum (slightly earlier versions with 80 & 160GB HD but otherwise the same I think). They're fairly quiet (loudest noise is the HD spinning up occasionally when on standby) and the interface is pretty straightforward and logical to use. However they do seem to suffer from occasional picture freeze for several seconds (may be due to signal strength) + the occasional lockup that requires a reboot. Also, occasionally programs don't record fully, e.g. it'll just record the first few minutes. Generally pretty good though for the money.

Beware that these may well be repackaged returns/refurbs (the boxes are generally tatty and why else would they be selling products that are still in the Argos catalogue at such a big discount?) - this is the case with quite a few Clearance Bargains products, even though they're not often marked as such!

I do get fed up posting deals only to have them wrongly expired. This offer is not expired.
