Hi
Thanks for posting. I have added an image to your post.
This is a link, made by rayman, which explains how to add images in great detail. It’s worth taking a look at if you are going to post more deals in future : - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/339941/how-to-post-and-host-images-for-thr/

Is this only for TV recording or could it record from an outside security camera, anyone know. Thanks.

It's a freeview recorder only.

I don't place any value on Hitachi as a brand name so this seems very pricey for what it does.

You wouldn't be saying that if you could actually buy Hitachi-made gear in the UK.

Trust me, in Japan Hitachi pees on Sony for quality. But they are smaller and cannot compete on price on Europe, so they sold their name to the highest bidder.

I say the same to you.

I've been to Japan, recently. The stuff we get here isn't Hitachi-designed or manufactured.

Hitachi build high-end hifi equipment and the like in Japan. They were the first to build a DVD camcorder, etc. It's built properly -- metal front panels and heavy-duty PSUs etc. Sony, on the other hand, is the mass-produced budget manufacturer. Don't take all this Vestel stuff as examples of the real Hitachi.

The fact is that this item doesn't even have a Hitachi hard drive in it. That says it all for me. Built in Turkey, British software, Chinese PSU with cheap knock-off capacitors that fail, cheapest hard drive they can get their hands on, Philips ICs among others. Sound like a Japanese product to you?

It the same as the Alba freeview recorder which is also £99.99 at Argos, but the Alba has more recent firmware so is a better option.

An even better option would be a Humax PVR-9150T which is available for £116.99 or you could have a B Grade for £96 + £5 p&p from Humaxdirect
