Thank you for posting this. I decided to give it a try after being without a set for a few months. Have set it up and I'm hugely impressed. Looks great, as does the picture through using a HD source. The freeview reception is also good. Glad I held off buying purchasing a replacement 23" now!

The only thing I don't like about it is the control, but that is a very minor gripe.

Isn't the Hitachi brand name now just used under license by various budget manufacturers?
#10
seems ok if you cant get the argos grundig 26inch model for £199 any more.

So would anyone say that this TV is better than the Panasonic L26X10B (~£150 more) on a price performance basis? I am litterally going to buy one this week and can't decide what 26incher to buy...

Voted hot, seems like an awesome price!

I am also looking for a 26" tv and yesterday I looked at this one.

The only thing that puts me back is the resolution. Generally I want it higher like 1080p.

does anyone know whats the resolution of freeview signal?

My question is is it 1366 x 768 or different? othersiwe seems a good price

I just picked up the last one in St. Andrews today and can say it's a pretty good set. Oddly remote control for the Philips CRT set it replaced operates the Hitachi, possible a Philips re-badge?

Go for a bigger screen then re 1080p on 26"
Personally I would only buy one of these 26" screens (might save others having to do the work)
Panasonic TXL26X10B
Samsung LE26B450
LG 26LH2000
Sony Bravia KDL26S500

This thing does 1080p if you have a source that will output it.

Please could anyone who has this tell me what the Freeview picture quality is like?

Its for my parents who will mainly be using it for Freeview and I am concerned it will be 'jaggy'

Thanks very much

.mp3 .wma .jpg .gif and .bmp only I'm afraid.

if you follow this link http://www.hitachiserviceeu.com/support/guides/userguides.htm

and download the manual for the TV , on page 33/34 it clearly shows a video being played and gives instructions for "Video Playback" from the media browser ???? !!!!!

Could be interesting if we can get it playing videos - having said that I've tried every video format known to man but can't get any to play !!
Not sure whats going on with the manual - maybe its a hidden feature ???

Looked like a real bargain - now up to £280
