What I don't get here is that the picture looks like a mini-usb on the HDD, and any USB3.0 device I've seen has had many more pins than that!!

Hitachi 7200rpm drives are usually quick if used internally on SATA but they run a bit hotter (7-ish watts) - presumably the enclosure is 50% bigger than others so the drive stays cool enough.
Worth a punt I think. And worth a try in the HP Microserver which has good HDD cooling.
Newegg reviews suggest you can get into the case without wrecking it so it's reusable, so that's a bonus.
