This ultra thin HD Ready TV is down £650!!!!!!
In Store only.
The Mailout says this will be valid for 7 days.
selling at 874.99 on amazon

from site:
The Hitachi UT32MH70 is the thinnest screen we've ever sold! Okay, at just 35mm it's so thin that Hitachi couldn't even fit a TV tuner in but, provided you have a Sky, Virgin, Freesat box or DVD recorder (with HDMI) this is no problem at all. Furthermore, if the system is being used as part of a home cinema system then a monitor represents excellent value as you're not paying for a part of the TV you don't need.

Coming complete with an HDMi input it's easy to connect the UT32MH70 straight up to an AV receiver or media source of your choice. Once connected, you'll enjoy HD quality images from the IPS screen that are every bit as good as normal, "full fat" LCD screens. In addition to the HDMI there's also a VGA socket that is perfect for a PC or, with an adaptor, any analogue source you care to add.

In addition to being a third of the thickness of a conventional LCD TV, the Hitachi UT32MH70 is lighter, too. In fact, this screen is so light that it hangs as easily as a picture with no special wall surface required (ask instore to see a range of matching brackets). To keep the appearance neat and tidy, Hitachi has designed special cable channels. The beautiful finish has also been designed to look sleek from any angle - perfect if the screen is stand mounted in the centre of a room.

For a fuller picture from a thinner screen, the Hitachi UT32MH70 is without competition.

yes of course it would, it has hdmi input. you can also get a splitter if you want to connect several hdmi leads to the tv. you can get scart to vga but not to hdmi as scart and hdmi carry different signals.
#7
Price should read £249.95.

This is hot for any 32" LCD, and even hotter for this super thin screen!
#8
got this and its looks superb . def worth the money and i paid £270 a week and a half ago ...drat:x
#9
I just paid £270 about 35 minutes ago..... WTF!!! I can't see any change to the price on the website. N.B. I bought in store in Glasgow.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up.

As its HDMI and no SCART connectors will they supply a HDMI lead with it or would you have to purchase one separately to connect to the SKY Box and DVD player.

Looks like the ones at Play would work for £7.99 each although it says Sky HD receiver. I only have a Sky + box not Sky HD, would this still work??????

yes it comes with a long hdmi cable.

Thanks for reply. Would the ones on play work with it as well for DVD if i used one that came with it for my sky + box.

also is is best to get 1.5M as i remember reading something about if cable is over 1.8M you can lose quality or does that just apply to pc cables

1.5M for £7.99

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/6014127/Synn-HDMI-1-3b-Professional-Quality-1-5-Metre-Cable/Product.html

5M for £9.99

the hdmi cable they supply gives me a great picture. the diameter of this cable is a few mm smaller than standard hdmi cables and i think the reason being for that is that the hitachi has a small recessed area on the back of the tv to take the power lead and the hdmi and is quite a tight fit. but if you were to use the thicker more heavily shielded hdmi cables - you may have trouble getting it to fully engage .

Going to call me local today and see if they have it, but I won't hold my breath. Awesome for anyone who gets one though!
#16
The only drawback to this is that there is no tuner built in, and only 1 HDMI socket and a VGA computer input.
Other than that it's a great TV or PC Monitor.

Ignore 99.9% of the bunkum about HDMI cables.

The OFFICIAL HDMI.org only talks about issues with THEIR certified cables when over 10 metres - yes that's nearly 33' of cable before worrying...
http://www.hdmi.org/learningcenter/faq.aspx#44

Buy a cable that SUITS your physical environment - if you have to pull out a box to reach its sockets then at least buy a cable that is long enough to stay in when you pull it out next; if you want the cables running up the back central stand of your TV so that you cant see them from the front, factor that in too.

eg eBuyer.com do a 2m cable for under £4 delivered - I think it was a Deal on here v.recently.
Quickfind 130508 and SuperSaver Delivery to get it free.

[Mind you my computer works better when its power cable is gold-plated and costs more than my Intel CPU - see how much faster and neater my typing looks!!! ]

This is an amazing screen - not sure why its not more hot than this. The size does not detract anything from the picture quality as some reviews have reported. If you're desperate for scart, i guess its a downer, but for an extra screen upstairs for a PC or dvd player this looks insanely sleek
#19
can someone forward me copy of email? I am subscribed but to VIP deals but didn;t receive this.
Last one was for £269

Not VERY hot for a PC Monitor with only 1366 x 768 pixels at 32".

My 22" monitor has a regular 1680x1060 pixels ie 70% more.

At 32" it would be kinda like a CGA monitor -v- a VGA monitor for those of use old enough to remember - ie maybe okay for playing back video but not for PC text.
#21
Problems with this tv.

No built in tuner (requires additional box, power and cable)
Only inputs are VGA and 1 x HDMI so the use of this "monitor" are rather limited.

As for image quality, some very mixed reports :s

Hi

I would love this - also recvd the VIP email for this price - and its available in my local store.

I would like to connect my ordinary Sky Digibox & Ordinary cable box & DVD Player - currently connected to my TV via Scarts.

How can I connect the 3 devices above to this TV??

Thanks

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/11/01/review_lcd_tv_32in_hitachi_ut32mh70/page2.html

Apparently there was a free voucher in the box at the time of this review for a *free tuner box* which provided the extra connections, component, hdmi, scart etc.
Does anyone know if that still applies? Or how much the tuner box is anyways?
#24
Sure, it's a great deal at that price but I think they're stretching the saving by using the RRP - how many LCD's are ever sold at the RRP..?
#25
anyone know if instock at leeds ?

Now THAT starts to make this VERY interesting with...

"The HDMI and power cable ease into the main socket area at the back of the screen. Other than that, it’s all pretty sparse: tucked away to the left are an analogue audio input and an RS232 computer connection. For more than this you need the optional tuner box. And that tuner box, given that it’s free, is pretty spectacular. There are two digital tuners, three HDMI inputs which feed through to the single socket in the TV. Plus one Scart connector and a USB port. It’s styled to match the slim look of the screen and it has a 250GB hard drive inside as well."

As a 250GB twin digital tuner box wouuld be £100-150 all by itself!

I would have thought though that Richer Sounds would have mentioned if it DID include that box - ie maybe the reason RS has them at all is the absence of the box in the bundle ?!?!

can someone please forward me the email as well as I haven't recieved this via email either..............thx in advance..........
#29
OP says that it sells on Amazon for £874.99 which is full hd! this is only hd ready, unless i have missed something.
#30
Wow this is cheap... Heated.
#31
RRP £850 my *****.

You can get a quality 46" 1080p plasma for that much.
#32
Hey, as I bought this TV yesterday, here's a couple of the answers to some queries folk are having:

HDMI cable included. If you need to buy other HDMI cables, look for cheap versions. You get little/no added benefit by paying £40 for a gold plated one etc...

The voucher for redemption of media centre was an offer that expired in January. Richer Sounds didn't have any info on it, but I got a speedy reply from Hitachi stating it was finished...

Thank you for your email.

This offer ended in January. Regretfully there are no longer any of these
units available.

I apologise for any inconvenience or dissatisfaction this matter may have
caused you but trust that the above information has helped to clarify the
situation.

One more note of caution. i presumed that the stand was in the box. When I got home, it wasn't. I phoned the store who were apologetic. They had forgotten to give me one. It's packaged separately.

hope that saves anyone else getting caught out.

You don't need a copy of the e-mail as such - go to the Richer Sounds online store and bottom left there's a box to put in the e-mail address that you used to sign up to the free VIP club membership. It will bring up a copy of the latest deals (- as previously mentioned these special price deals in-store only so take a copy of the web page/e-mail just to make sure - the current offers are available until the 15th).

Is there a chance of getting an audio input along with the VGA, i.e. any anlog audio i/p
#35
I was going to rush out and buy one of these when I got the email, but with only 1 hdmi and 1 vga input I'd have to change my DVD player (component) or get some kind of adapter.
This is good if you have some dedicated HDMI source in mind. (or already have an external HDMI switch - eg AV AMP) But for anything else, you;d have to spend money to adapt inputs, and will soon spend as much as the amount saved (full featured 32" is around £300 to £350 these days). Also the resolution is too low for use as a general PC monitor.

In the end I think the limited inputs would frustrate me. Which is probably the reason it is so cheap. I suspect it just didnt sell well for these reasons.

Here is the url to the offer ...

No it hasnt - it started off at £299.99, came down to £279.99 and is now £249.99

I still have all the emails to confirm it!
#38
I just spoke to someone from richer sounds who said that this is just a monitor, you have to buy the tv tuner box separately which is another £40, the hdmi cable does not come with the item either.
#39
great offer
shame abt the lack of connectivity
also would be great if it was full hd as 720i seem to be getting olllld nw
