Looks like a good price to me... however, I've heard a few bad things about Hitachi drives so best do some research before splurging ...

Yes always worth a bit of research before you buy anything like this. Hitachi must be pretty confident on this, to give it a 3 years warranty. In 3 years time usb2 will be ancient history. what a fickle game this is
banned#5
usb 2.0 will still be used for years to come

usb 3.0 is very new and will take a long time for people to totally change from usb 2.0 to usb 3.0

voted hot :)

That has nothing to do with the warranty, it does not cover progress in technology...

I bought this drive on offer a week ago at Comet (somone then posted the deal on HUKD) and on the box it said 2 year warranty not 3.

Buy one and prove them wrong,

I am more than happy with mine and with a 2/3 year warranty you can't go wrong..

Hi sil0,
It definitely states 2 years on the packaging, looked at the PDF which says 3, have emailed Hitachi to see which is correct...lets see if I get a reply!

Keep us informed minxx. maybe they changed the warranty period after your drive was made to help move stock because of poor sales as people remember the deathstar(deskstar) debacle, (what rfc1795 was on about). I would like to think a corp like hitachi won't make the same mistake again, but only time will tell.fingers x'd (_;)

really want this drive but they are charging an extra £10 for shipping to northern ireland (yes i chose free delivery method) which is an absolute joke as its a uk address.

hey, where in NI are you abouts? if anywhere near Newry, Armagh, Portadown, or around - let me know, we could buy few of these together and split the costs :)
