Hitman Absolution is the highly detailed stealth game developed by IO Interactive and published by Square Enix. Hitman Absolution is the eagerly awaited fifth instalment in the highly unique and adrenaline-fuelled Hitman series, which runs on IO Interactive’s own innovative Glacier 2 game engine, which brings both the classic and new, revolutionary and revamped game mechanics and gameplay features into the fray.
Step into the shoes of our protagonist Agent 47, an enigma of a man whose identity is his most precious secret. Forever elusive, Agent 47 has been double crossed by the few people that he ever trusted, and is now being hunted down like a dog by the police. Unbeknownst to him, he has just accepted his most deadly and dangerous contract to date, placing himself in the middle of a finely spun web of lies and a terribly ominous conspiracy. Playing as Agent 47, you must now embark on a personal journey that is fraught with deceit and betrayal in this terribly corrupt world, searching for the truth. When it comes to gameplay and, more specifically, execution, every detail is decided by you; perform a kill loud and proud with perhaps a bomb, test your sniper sight and snipe them from a mile away, or become the most ingenious predator and stalk your enemy, learning their secrets and then snuffing them out in the most subtle way imaginable. This wide range of annihilation techniques is fused perfectly with the classic hitman styles found in previous games in the series, such as the signature silent takedown.
An innovative feature that has been introduced into Hitman Absolution is the optional Instinct Mode. This Mode, when turned on, allows you to make full use of Agent 47’s finely tuned senses and abilities, developed and honed through years of training. As Agent 47 is hyper-aware of his surroundings, this Mode’s abilities range from him being able to know if enemies are in an adjoining room, and also has a slow-motion tag-target that can be engaged should there be an overwhelming amount of foes to take down. Instinct Mode also lends a hand when it comes to keeping up with disguises, offering prompts of character-specific behavioural traits and mannerisms so that Agent 47 can pass any kind of scrutiny and remain undetected. You will be able to predict the path an enemy is about to walk or how Agent 47 predicts a target will patrol the area, giving him a chance to manoeuvre out of sight or to find a way to escape.
This introduction of Instinct Mode lessens the blow of Hitman Absolution’s new and improved difficulty settings when compared to previous games in the series; Absolution is the hardest yet. The NPCs play a crucial part in upping the game’s difficulty, as they notice you faster, shoot faster and harder, populate areas quicker making it more difficult to contain situations, and more. The Glacier 2 engine also boasts the Comprehensive Intelligence Spectrum, meaning that all AI that you will meet throughout the game possess a wide range of reactions to the environments and events that happen around them. Tying in with this is the attention bar that has been introduced, which represents how suspicious the characters around you are of you, and can be affected by the slightest of sights, sounds, and environmental changes, including the tiny detail of a door that was previously shut that is now open. The attention bar goes hand in hand with helping Agent 47 remain undetected as he traverses through this graphically stunning, dark and gritty world, on his personal quest for the truth.
HITMAN: ABSOLUTION PROFESSIONAL EDITION features a premium hardcover Art Book with a foreword from Game Director Tore Blystad, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes “making of” video, all packaged up in a clamshell box that looks as sharp as Agent 47 does in his suit, the Professional Edition is the ultimate way to experience the living, breathing world of HITMAN: ABSOLUTION.
HITMAN: ABSOLUTION PROFESSIONAL EDITION also includes advanced access to a range of in-game Agency Weapons, giving the Original Assassin a deadly edge over his enemies from the outset. The Agency Jagd P22G pistol will suit the silent assassins, whilst the Agency HX UMP SMG and the Agency SPS 12 semi-automatic shotgun will give Agent 47 the power to fight his foes head on.
HITMAN: ABSOLUTION follows The Original Assassin undertaking his most personal contract to date. Betrayed by the Agency and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself pursuing redemption in a corrupt and twisted world.
