British Gas are offering an exclusive 20% cashback on all Hive products for existing British Gas customers. I know this isn't the cheapest that it has ever been but I can't find it cheaper anywhere else at the moment with the installation included.

What’s Hive Active Heating™?

It's a smart thermostat that lets you control your heating and hot water from your smartphone, tablet or laptop

So whether you’re at work, on the bus or in the pub, the Hive App lets you change the temperature of your home in just a few taps.

Hive Active Heating™ works with your existing heating system and there's no need to change your energy supplier. If you have a separate hot water tank, you can control your hot water too.

having tried hive, evohome and nest I have to say nest is leaps ahead of the others, it's very similar price to this so look long and hard before ordering. also I fitted nest myself in under 10 minutes, loads of guides and YouTube videos.

why would I want to heat my home if I wasnt in it and if I was at home I just press a button and doesn't cost me £200

Interesting, thanks. What would you say makes nest so much better as I've heard the complete opposite in other threads!

You may have turned it off before going on holiday and want to heat up the house before returning? or you may have forgotten to turn it off so want to do that while away?

This also links to other smart home devices and can be programmed more than a traditional thermostat.

I agree with above though, nest is better

Good review of the two here with helpful user comments

You have completely missed the point of what these are for

If you don't live in a very cold house and hardly ever think the house is cold when you walk in, save your money.

I have Netatmo £199 installed and can't fault it, works with smart phone and Amazon Echo and a bunch more stuff https://heatsmart.edfenergy.com/contact-details/ good people are driving manufacturers to make such products so heat added but Hive is not the best product.

Had this installed for my disabled gran who's boiler is in the garage and she cannot get out to turn it on, set temperature etc. She can now do this with the Hive app. Only issue with these is that the controller eats batteries

Was looking at the Netatmo just earlier......Amazon have the Echo Dot + Netatmo thermostat for £148.99. They also seem to encourage DIY installation so that saves on installation costs if you can wire a light.

Why would I want electric windows in my car when I can use a manual winder?

If anyone if planning to get an Amazon echo, apparently you can link the echo to hive to control it.
I love my Hive system, I had to replace my old thermostat and timer anyway and the hive system works really well
