It is very difficult to determine whether Apple is on another mega rise or decline in the long term. Much depends if they can pull off another hardware product. In terms of innovation Apple is not an innovative company in hardware as they buy in http://images.apple.com/supplierresponsibility/pdf/Apple_Supplier_List_2011.pdf existing technologies. Apple is an integrator or packager of existing innovative products and services from the likes of Sony, Samsung, Sandisk, Qualcomm.... Therefore they have a way of maximising profit from sales and minimising research and development. For the amount of sales revenue their R&D is miniscule. Then again its product set is so tiny its entire operational costs is at a minimum. If they can pull off another hardware product like the iPAD or iPhone which seamlessly integrates with Apple ecosystem then they are on a roll again on yet another peak. They have US$110m cash reserves, surely this amount of money will magic up something else soon!

Apple has been clever but it flew when it had no real competition and did what most monopolies do: screw the customer for all they can get. I don't doubt that they will continue to turn out decent product updates but never again will they have the field to themselves and the competition, notably from Android devices in the phone sector, have already overtaken them. Their blindly loyal fan base will dwindle over time and they will be just another decent player in the field.

basically what I tried to say long winded lol well put

Well thank you :)

Besford have you heard Apple just lost 10 % of their marlket value TEN PERCENT lol we was right and it only took less than a week to see huge results. Dam they are going to loose so much so quick sad times for apple

Except one thing...they lost the one guy who had the vision to see that one great product, Steve Jobs. Since his passing what have they produced..just iterations and size differences, I wont even call them evolution never mind a revolutionary products.

The thing is technology will keep improving but you get to a point that anything better doesn't translate to real day to day chnage, take the screen density (amount of pixels) for example. we have 5" 1080p displays with 443 ppi but the human eye can't discern above 300 ppi.Perfect example is look at an image on your computer then go to google image search find the same image, ask google to give you higher resoloution above your monitors resolotion and you wont be able to tell the difference unless you zoom in.

My point is the technology Apple offer now can be brought from a lesser brand much much cheaper, nexus 4 compared to iphone. Even if Apples is slightly.

Even on the software front Apple are being attacked from Google Amazon.. Thier itunes market share I think is shrinking as more and more people are being aware at the premium apple charge for the same thing you can get from google, who arguably is getting better at customer service.

As you said Apple take existing technology and mould them but they are charging to much and its not going to work in this economic climate anymore you need someone like Samsung who actually make technology, new technology i.e. flexible OLED technology.. which is the future. No more screen cracks. All that money is nothing if they dont start spending it on R&D which they arn't even in the same league as other big players.

Watch what happens when Samsung release S4 in a couple of months. Its just begun

In conclusion they are crashing. The distortion field Steve Jobs creating is gone the moment he passed away. The Apple bubble is bursting to Pop. Hello Samsung our new technology overlords.
